Africa Cup of Nations Format & Past Ten Winners
The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will take place in early 2024. The total number of teams participating has risen to 24 in 2019 from the previous 16 and will be drawn into six groups of four for the first round of matches where teams play each group member once.
The top two in each group and the four best 3rd placed teams will progress to the last 16 stages where the tournament then becomes straight knockout progressing to the final, there will also be a 3rd place playoff for the losing semi-finalists.
