Hacksaw written all over this one and in that I fell on the wrong side of the volatility, with a high frequency win rate of 27 from 100 spins, but with an average winning spin value of just 1.44x an no bonus round landed, the session RTP came in a very much below average 39%.

When launching the base game, the four characters look like butter wouldn't melt. But, during the bonus rounds, they reveal their true blood-drinking selves. The four vampires are called Mina Le Noire, Scarlet De Sangre, Eva Le Blanc and Violet Tepes. They're around 250 years old but they look good on it.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

The Immortal Desire imagery is up to Hacksaw's usual high standards.  As you'd expect with a vampire-themed game there are lots of gothic imagery and various hues of red to match the copious amounts of blood that appear on the reels.

You'll hear gentle music in the base game which includes piano and percussion instruments with a touch of a choir singing. During the bonus rounds, the music picks up the pace to match the game's drama and turns into a creepy choir.  It's the kind of chorus that you've heard in various horror films over the years.  

Sound effects include bats flying, the vampiresses laughing evilly, a dramatic gong and the sound of Bach being played on the organ. This is a melody which is always used in vampire films and you'll recognise it as soon as the first keys are played.

Now that I've explained the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, next on the list are the key features.

Theme – Vampires

The genre of vampires must be one of the most popular categories ever invented. Countless films, books, paintings and plays have been inspired by these mysterious creatures. During the base game, you'll discover a gothic background with statues of scary-looing gargoyle-type monuments which are in the vampires' castle. If the Dark Awakening bonus is activated, you enter a baroque-style room which is filled with burning candles and the coffins where the women sleep.

The reels are lit up by the faces of the vampires, during the base game we see the 'before' images of the vampires showing a more demure look. During the bonus games, we see their faces after they reveal their bloodsucking selves and they are, shall we say, slightly more vampy. The value of the vampires is the same whether it's a 'before or after' picture. In order of value, they start with the highest which is Mina Le Noire, up next there is Scarlet De Sangre, Eva Le Blanc and last but not least, Violet Tepes. These are then followed by the standard symbols of J, K, Q and A which all have the exact same lower value.

Play Experience & First Impressions

The Blood Reel was a favourite when testing this game. Visually it looked incredible and it was pretty easy to understand. At the start of each spin, one or more of the reels can randomly turn into Blood Reels. You'll notice these straight away as the blood starts dripping off the reels. Here, all winning high-paying symbols on a Blood Reel are turned into vampire symbols and then have multipliers added to them. The final win value is worked out by multiplying the total win amount in each winning combo by the multipliers included in that win.  So there are opportunites to win here.

The Awakened Multplier Symbols work by multiplying either the reel they land on or all of the reels. If you land an Awakened Multiplier Symbol it increases the value of the multipliers above the reels. They have the functions of adding or multiplying and can affect one or all of the reel multipliers. Normal multipliers only affect the reels they land on, while Epic multipliers apply to all reels. 

Violet Tepes and Eva LeBlanc are Normal multipliers. Voilet's multipliers range between 1x - 500x and Eva's multipliers vary between 2x - 10x. 

Scarlet De Sangre and Mina Le Noire are Epic Multpliers. Scarlet's multipliers range from 1x- 500x and Mina's multipliers range from 2x-10x. 

There are plenty of vampire slot games on the market but this one comes at it from a different angle focusing on the female character's metamorphosis into vampires. It's a great mix of a baroque and gothic style which conveys well into the look of the game. I'm a sucker (pardon the pun) for a strong theme and this one reeled me in from the start. The creatives are first-rate which is typical of Hacksaw Gaming's titles. This studio is on a roll at the moment with a run of great games in the last few weeks. These have included Benny the Beer, Chaos Crew 2 and the beautiful Densho.

With an RTP rate of 96.24% and a max win amount of 10,000x, it's certainly very compatible with other slot games currently on the market.
