Right, now that I've covered the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, up next are the key game features.
At OLBG we create slot game reviews that include current info about essential features such as the theme, paylines, reels, bet range, and bonuses. I’ll finish off the review by talking about my play experience, first impressions and expert verdict.
Theme – Christmas
Deck the halls and all that - Christmas is just around the corner, so the Christmas 2023 slot games are ramping up. There is so much scope with a Christmas theme, take your pick from tinsel, trees, candy canes, Santa and stockings - the list is endless. In the background of this game, you'll see the usual Big Bass underwater scene complete with bubbles and weeds. This one randomly has candy canes, presents and fairy lights thrown in for a bit of seasonal good measure. At the top of the screen, the scene is quite different with an iced-over lake and snow-topped alpine houses. The bonus round has the same view with the addition of the progress bar at the top of the screen.
On the reels - in order from highest first - you'll find a snow plough, fishing rod, dragonfly, tinsel-covered bait box and a selection of fish. After this are the standard A, K, Q, J & 10 symbols.
The special symbols include the Fisherman Wild which is the Fisherman dressed up as Santa and the Money Symbol which is a selection of fish.
The Big Bass Christmas Bash game is made up of 5 reels and 3 rows to play with.
There are 10 non-adjustable paylines where you can trigger wins.
Return to Player is most commonly referred to as RTP, you've probably seen this acronym on slots sites. It's a way of forecasting theoretically what percentage of a player's stakes will be returned to them over the long run. The higher the number the better and ideally the rate should be 96% or above. Big Bass Christmas Bash is a high rate at 96.71%.
This RTP figure is used as a default value by Pragmatic Play so if you shop around you’ll discover several rates. To save you some time, we’ve uncovered a few at some of the popular UK online casinos and added them to the table below.
It's worth mentioning that RTP is just one consideration when deciding which site to play at. Other factors include payment options, game library, customer support and welcome bonuses and deals. Our casino reviews look at this info and much, much more.

The Fisherman Wild Symbol represents the Wild shape of this game. He appears on all reels during the Free Spins round, He substitutes for all symbols apart from the Scatter Symbol. During the Free Spins feature, each Wild Symbol collects all the values from Money Symbols on the screen and are counted up at the end of the round. Every 4th Wild Symbol collected retriggers the feature, awards 10 more free spins and the multiplier for money symbols collection increases to 2x for first retrigger. And then 3x for second retrigger and 10x for the third retrigger.
To enter the Free Spins round you must land 3 or more Scatters. If you land 5 Scatters = 20 free spins, 4 Scatters = 15 Free Spins and 3 Scatters = 10 Free Spins. If you happen to land 2 Scatters in the base game there is a second hance for another one to be brought down in the reels by a random feature. If the scatter can move down one position a respin can be triggered. Alternatively a hook can pull the reels up to reveal another Scatter.
Just before the Free Spins round starts 0-5 modifiers that apply to the subsequent round are randomly selected. The 5 modifiers are - more Fish Symbols, more Fisherman Wilds, more Dynamites, Hooks and Bazookas. Or you can start from level 2 which gives you a head start. Lastly, you can receive 2 extra free spins – you start with 2 free spins plus you receive 2 extra free spins on every retrigger.
Like most modern-day slot games, Big Bass Christmas Bash doesn't have a jackpot element. If jackpots are your thing you should visit our page with the best jackpot slot games.
Play Experience & First Impressions
The base game does what it says on the tin - it's pretty basic and looks like most Big Bass games just with an added Christmas element. The Money Symbol part of the game was fun. Here, the symbols showing a selection of fish have two uses, firstly it’s a paying symbol on the reel. Secondly, it’s also a Money Symbol. During each spin, the fish takes a random money value which you can win during the Free Spins feature. The values range between 2x – 5000x your stake. If you trigger a larger amount it can mean decent wins.
I enjoyed the Free Spins round as it was straightforward to understand. You need at least 3 Scatters to trigger the bonus round, however, you get a second run at it if you only trigger 2. Here, randomly there is a chance for another one to be brought down in the reels - either the scatter can move down one position or a respin can be triggered which was a cool functionality. And it's great when it randomly triggers when you're playing. The modifiers at the start of the round were also a great addition as you then know you're going to receive more of a certain symbol or function during play which adds to the excitement.
