The Bangkok Hilton slot game begins with 6 reels and 152 ways to win, on a 2x3x4x4x4x4 formation. You’ll notice 4 locked Enhancer Cells above reels 3, 4, 5 and 6 (more on this below). Wining combinations are formed 3, 4, 5 or 6 matching symbols appear across consecutive reels, beginning from reel 1. Only the highest win per way to win will be awarded.

Taking place in Thailand, the game is inspired by Thailand’s Bang Kwang prison, which is the site of the men’s death row and Thailand’s execution chamber. Bangkok Hilton is the most densely populated and unsanitary prison in the world (according to Nolimit City): the solution in the prison is to create more space (by getting rid of some inmates). The soundtrack has a hip-hop feel to it and is quite eerie.

On the reels, there are Thai-style A, K, Q, J and 10 royals. The higher-value symbols are represented by 5 inmates: you’ll see ‘Ginge’, ‘Fattie’, ‘Blondie’, ‘Indiana’ and ‘Granny’. Granny is the best-paying symbol awarding 3.2 x your total bet for 6 in combination.

Bonus

Bonus symbols can land on reels 3, 4, 5 and 6: Bonus symbols transforming into Wilds. Enhancer Cells

When a Bonus symbol lands, it opens the locked Enhancer Cell on its reels. Enhancer Cells will reveal:

• xSplit Reel: splits all symbols on its reel and doubles their symbol sizes.
• xSplit Row: lands on a random position on its reel and splits all symbols in the same row, doubling their size.
• xWays: randomly lands on its reel and transforms into a paying symbol. Revealing 2-4 symbols of the same type, it increases the number of ways to win. Always sticky, multiple xWays symbols landing will see them all reveal the same symbol. However, xWays symbols only appear during Isolation and Execution Spins and Unbarred Spin.
• Doubled Inmate: appears as a random inmate paying symbol and doubles the symbol size of all its instances on the reels.
• Sticky Wild: randomly transforms a symbol from reel 2-6 on the reels into a Wild. If respin, Isolation or Execution Spins is triggered, Wild will remain sticky in its position.
• Wild Reel: Transform all symbols on its reel into Wild symbols.

Isolation Spins

The Isolation Spins feature is triggered by landing 3 Bonus symbols. With 7 free spins awarded, Enhancer Cells are unlocked where the Bonus symbol lands as well as 1-3 xWays symbols randomly added to those reels. These are sticky throughout the feature.

A locked Enhancer Cell is unlocked when a Bonus symbol lands on its reel, upgrading you to the Execution Spins feature plus 3 free spins. Landing a Bonus symbol on an open reel gives you 1 more free spin.

Execution Spins

The Execution Spins feature is played by landing 4 Bonus symbols in the base game. With 10 free spins awarded, all Enhancer Cells are unlocked and 1-4 xWays symbols are randomly added (these remain sticky). Any extra Bonus symbols landing will give you 1 additional free spin.

Bangkok Hilton is another in a long line of prison-themed slots by Nolimit City. With plenty of xMechanics and 44,444 x bet max win potential, it doesn’t hit the heights of other releases such as San Quentin 2: Death Row.

As mentioned, Nolimit City is a fan of prison-inspired slot games. The Bangkok Hilton slot is superbly designed and is just as grim as previous releases. The other genre NLC is keen on is the Wild West so I’m glad they are going into crime with this release.

With an unusual reel setup, the key to landing big wins are Bonus symbols. With Bonus symbols transforming into Wilds, they also award a respin with opened Enhancer Cells. They will lead to split symbols, double row sizes, more ways to win, double inmate symbols (which are the highest value), sticky wilds and wild reels.

Being an extreme volatility slot, it will be rare that multiple Enhancer Cells open up simultaneously. In the 2 free spins features, you’ll benefit from sticky xWays symbols and all Enhancer Cells unlocked (in the Execution Spins), for bigger win potential. Enhancer Cells feature in many other NLC games such as Fire in the Hole 3 and Mental 2.

With 44,444 x bet max wins, Bangkok Hilton is not as as hard-hitting as other prison-themed slots from Nolimit City.
