The Breakout slot has 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 paylines. Simply land 3 or more matching symbols from left to right, beginning from the leftmost reel and across any of the 20 paylines to form a winning combination. As with most games, only the highest win on each payline will be paid out.

With no wild symbol, the only other symbol of significance is the Bonus symbol, with 3 or 4 triggering the Breakout Spins feature or Clearout Spins feature, respectively.

Syndicate Multiplier

Every high-value symbol has a corresponding Syndicate Multiplier symbol linked to it. When the Syndicate Multiplier lands, the multiplier is transferred to all corresponding high-value symbols.

Landing 3 Bonus symbols will trigger 7 Breakout Spins. During this mode, Syndicate Multipliers are persistent between spins. Respin mode behaves the same way as in base game.

Landing an additional Bonus during this feature awards 3 extra spins. If you land a second Bonus symbol, you will upgrade remaining Breakout Spins to Clearout Spins. When this happens, the number of remaining free spins will be added as multipliers to a random high-value symbol.

Clearout Spins

When you land 4 Bonus symbols, you will activate the Clearout Spins feature. You’ll begin with 1 life for every high-value symbol. With persistent Syndicate Multipliers between free spins, the respins feature from the base game applies.

Look out for the Kill symbol: it will reveal a high-value symbol or a miss. If it reveals a high-value symbol still on the reels, all instances of that symbol will be removed.

When the Kill symbol lands and the last high-value symbol is killed, a respin is award. All instances of that symbol will sticky during the respins. During the respins, high-value symbols cannot be killed. Once a high-value symbol is eliminated, it will not appear on the remaining free spins: its multiplier transfers over to the highest-value active symbol.

Nolimit Booster

The Breakout slot is an odd game. One of the high-value characters really looks like the main character in Prison Break: that is where the similarities end. With quite a serious tone, I was expect something controversial, humorous or witty (it didn’t come).

Every high-value character symbol has a corresponding Syndicate Multiplier symbol. Ranging up to 100x, 6 or more high-value character symbol can lead to the Chain Reaction Respins. Here, matching high-value symbols can build momentum and result in big payouts.

Then you have the 2 free spins features: in the Breakout Spins, Syndicate Multipliers are persistent. In the Clearout Spins, every high-value character gets 1 life. With sticky Syndicate Multipliers, there is a new Kill symbol that kills a character or displays ‘LOL’ and continues. I quite like the heavy metal soundtrack it plays out too. When a character is killed, its multiplier transfers to the highest-value active symbol. If luck goes your way, this can build to quite the climax, with big win potential to match.

With 20,000 x bet max wins, Breakout lacks xMechanics found in numerous other slots. It also lacks satire, controversy or humour which is unlike Nolimit City and what has made their games stand out.

In summary, the Breakout slot is a little poor by Nolimit City’s incredibly high standards. Unfortunately, it doesn’t deliver the thrills and excitement of Prison Break’s first season.
