DC: “Rolling Reels come alive on every winning spin, offering the potential to unleash a chain reaction of cascading wins. When eight or more matching symbols land anywhere on the reels, a prize is awarded. But that’s just the beginning of the Rolling Reels action as those winning symbols explode, lighting up the reels and making way for new symbols to tumble down and refill to potentially award multiple consecutive wins until no winning combinations are present.
The Pay Anywhere mechanic merges into this franchise well and means the game is not limited to traditional paylines or ways. Player focus will be centred on how many symbols hit, rather than where exactly they land.”
Q: This game also features MultiChase Rolling Multipliers. How are these incorporated into gameplay and what is the maximum multiplier that may come into play?
DC: “Lara Croft herself has an impact on multipliers during game play. With every blazing arrow she shoots, a multiplier symbol lands on the reels. If it lands during a winning spin, the multiplier symbol stays on the reels until all Rolling Reels conclude and the multiplier is awarded. There is also the potential for the multiplier symbol to be boosted by up to 100x for maximum winning combinations.
Moreover, landing three Lara Croft symbols can increase the Rising Rewards Free Spins Multiplier, with the possibility of being awarded up to 20x during the 10 free spins feature.”
Q: What sort of challenges and hurdles must you overcome when developing a branded slot with such a high-profile IP, particularly in comparison to creating your own proprietary content?
DC: “With someone as recognisable as Lara Croft, alignment is everything. The locations, artefacts, narrative and overall tone need to feel authentic to the character. Our aim was to deliver an experience that respects and celebrates the world Lara Croft has inhabited for the last 29 years, whilst also ensuring the gameplay is easy to follow.
In practice that means providing clear instructions on how the game works, and integrating features and mechanics that best fit the theme and series without over-complicating things.”
Q: Lara Croft is undoubtedly a cultural icon. How much appetite have players shown for these games over the years, and how many more Lara Croft games might we see from Triple Edge in the future?
DC: “We have enjoyed our longstanding collaboration with Tomb Raider and love featuring Lara Croft. We approach each instalment with the same focus on quality and clarity.
