The chances of a recession in the UK is looking increasingly likely according to odds by bookmakers this week.
It's now 4/5 that the UK goes into recession in 2022, shortening from 13/8 at the end of July.
Smarkets give odds on the recession and make it 21/20 that it doesn't happen this month.

Our news piece towards the end of last year looked at the chances of a recession during 2022.
At the time, bookmakers gave an 83% chance that no recession would happen during this year.
That has changed drastically though almost 12 months later with it now odds on that it happens.
The odds of a recession have flipped massively in the last 10 months, with it now odds on that we get one in the UK by the end of 2022.
