Understanding How This Competition Works
Unlike the more familiar City of Culture contest, this new title operates across three distinct categories based on town size.
The shortlist includes six small towns, Ilfracombe, Isle of Bute, Lerwick, Sandown, Strabane and Stockton Town Centre Ward, five medium towns, Corby, Great Yarmouth, Leith, Pontypridd and Port Talbot, and four large towns, Basildon, Birkenhead, Grimsby and Rotherham.
One finalist will ultimately be chosen from each category, before an overall winner is crowned from those three finalists, a structure that adds real nuance to how this betting market should be read.
