Tyson Fury will now fight Oleksandr Usyk in May after a cut to Fury in sparring before the original bout
Betting remains available on the fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk despite the bout being delayed due to an injury sustained to Fury last week.
The fight has now been rescheduled for May 18 and is once again expected to take place in Saudi Arabia according to event organiser Turki Alalashikh.
Fury's team posted on Friday that a cut above his right eye required medial attention and "significant stitching" and therefore needs to be postponed for a third time since 2023.
Usyk had said that he would fight Filip Hrgovic in February instead so he would still be fighting this month but that now looks like it won't happen with the May date set for Fury v Usyk.
What the expert says...
Fury is the odds-on favourite in the betting market with Usyk now evens
Fury goes into the fight against Usyk as the 4/5 favourite with bookmakers just about making him the favourite to win the bout and claim all the belts.
Usyk though is evens to win and become the undisputed heavyweight champion with the betting market only slightly separating the pair.
35-year-old Fury has a 55% chance of winning the bout according to the latest odds with 37-year-old Usyk's probability of winning at 50%.
Tyson Fury v Oleksandr Usyk Winner | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Tyson Fury | 4/5 | 55.6% |
Draw | 16/1 | 5.9% |
Oleksandr Usyk | 1/1 | 50.0% |
Bookies also offer odds on the bout between Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua with Joshua favourite
Further betting specials are offered around another big bout taking place soon with Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua facing off against each other next month.
Joshua is the clear favourite in the betting odds for this one with bookies now making him 1/5 to win and propel himself back in contention for the heavyweight title.
Ngannou is 7/2 to win the fight and get the decision after he was controversially beaten by Tyson Fury last year despite dropping him to the canvas and looking like the winner to many.
