George Clarke New Favourite for Glitterball

The Strictly Come Dancing 2025 competition is underway and already the betting market has shifted after the opening live show as bookmakers swap odds right around on the big contenders.

YouTuber George Clarke impressed in Week 1 with a strong score of 24, moving into 3/1 favourite with William Hill to win the glitterball trophy.

Before Friday’s launch show, Clarke was a 5/1 shot in the market.

But his assured performance and early fan backing has seen him leapfrog pre-show market leaders Lewis Cope and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey in the latest odds.

The latest market gives an implied probability of 25% that Clarke will win the show this year.

Market Movements Since Friday

The pre-show odds had Lewis Cope as a narrow favourite at 5/2, with Clarke a 5/1 chance.

However, Cope’s 28-point performance has only kept him in contention rather than moving him clear.

Meanwhile, Karen Carney has been the breakout performer, scoring an impressive 31 points to top the leaderboard.

She has shortened into 9/2 third favourite, reflecting strong public and judge support.

First Elimination Market

Attention also turns to the First Elimination betting, where Ross King is odds-on at 4/6 after scoring just 10 points, the lowest of the week.

Ross King4/660.0%
Thomas Skinner3/125.0%
Chris Robshaw4/120.0%

King faces an uphill battle to survive Week 2 unless the public vote rallies strongly behind him.

The second live show will provide another opportunity for the contestants to impress the judges and the public.

If Karen Carney maintains her high-scoring form, she could quickly move into outright favourite territory, while King will be desperate to improve.
