John Morden Centre is 7/4 favourite to win this year's RIBA Stirling Prize

Betting is now available for the RIBA Stirling Prize following the announcement of the nominees for the prize and it is Blackheath's John Morden Centre that is the favourite.

The John Morden Centre is 7/4 at the top of the betting market to win the highest prize in UK architecture with 6 buildings in the running to be crowned the best this year.

Mæ Architects have already won the RIBA London Award 2023 and RIBA London Building of the Year Award 2023 for the John Morden Centre and could now go one better.

William Hill say that there's a 36% chance of the John Morden Centre winning the prestigious award just ahead of A House for Artists in Barking.

We look at the full candidates for the 2023 Stirling Prize

As said earlier there are six nominees for the RIBA Stirling Prize this year with all six nominated for various different reasons but all equally as strong in terms of its architecture.

London dominates the nominees for the prize but the shortlisted projects are different innovative buildings that include work and living as well as education.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has presented the award since 1996 and will do so this year on 19 October 2023 in Manchester.

Who won the 2022 Stirling Prize?

The 2022 Stirling Prize award was given to The New Library, Magdalene College in Cambridge by Níall McLaughlin Architects during last year's event in London.

The winning building was a library at the 700-year-old University of Cambridge that is open 24 hours a day with a massive archive and art gallery.
