Strong Season Earns Festival Opportunity
Despite the competitive nature of the Triumph Hurdle, Derham believes the horse deserves his opportunity to run at the Cheltenham Festival.
Speaking ahead of the race on his site this morning, the trainer said:
“He’s been absolutely brilliant for us all season and deserves his chance in this.”
Derham acknowledged the challenge of competing at the Festival but remains hopeful the horse can run well.
“We’re under no illusions of the task today and he’s likely going to get out classed here but he’s in good nick and hopefully he can run a nice race and give his owners a great thrill.”
For many owners and trainers, having a runner at the Cheltenham Festival represents a major milestone regardless of the result.
Triumph Hurdle Always a Competitive Contest
With several highly regarded runners at the top of the betting market, One Horse Town faces a difficult challenge but will be hoping to outrun his odds.
The Triumph Hurdle traditionally features some of the best juvenile hurdlers in training, making it one of the toughest races of the Festival for younger horses.
Another Festival Moment for the Derham Team
For Harry Derham and Paul O’Brien, One Horse Town’s appearance in the Triumph Hurdle represents another opportunity to compete on the biggest stage in jump racing.
While the race features several leading contenders, the team will be hoping their runner can deliver a strong performance and cap off the Festival with a memorable run.
