Cleverley Out at Watford and Hunt Begins for Another New Boss

Betting odds are now available for the next Watford manager after the Hornets sacked boss Tom Cleverley after a disappointing end to the season.

Watford confirmed the departure of Cleverley, their 10th change since summer 2020, after the club finished 14th in the Championship.

Cleverley, who originally stepped in on an interim basis in March 2024, was relieved of his duties as part of a wider restructure, with the club now searching for yet another long-term solution at Vicarage Road.

Despite his short tenure, Watford praised his “professionalism and dignity” but are clearly seeking a more experienced figure to guide the club forward.

UK Betting Sites are now offering odds on who will replace him in charge of Watford, with the full betting market shown below:

What the expert says...
Watford’s reputation for fast managerial turnover makes this market volatile. While Garrido is the favourite, expect odds to shift rapidly if a high-profile name like Dyche or O’Neil is seriously linked.

Could Garrido Be the Next Man In?

Watford First Team Coach Alberto Garrido is the current favourite, priced at 5/1.

While not a household name in England, Garrido has been a coach at the Hornets since the start of the 2024/25 season and may step up as manager.

Former Bournemouth and Wolves boss Gary O’Neil (6/1) is also in the mix, while Sean Dyche (8/1) and Rob Page (8/1) offer domestic experience.

Sergej Jakirovic, currently managing Kayserispor, is also seen as an outside contender at 10/1.
