The now former Chancellor of the Exchequer resigned from his position on Tuesday evening saying his approach to the economy was "fundamentally too different" to that of Boris Johnson.

Bookmakers almost instantly made Sunak the 4/1 favourite to be the next PM with his chances increasing after his sign of being against Johnson's leadership.

Penny Mordaunt second favourite in the market at 5/1

Penny Mordaunt is now second favourite to be the next Prime Minister with her odds changing alongside the odds of her being the Next Conservative leader.

Mordaunt is now joint favourite to be the next Conservative leader alongside Rishi Sunak with it seemingly between the two of them who replaces Boris next.

Mordaunt has gone from 9/1 to 5/1 in the last week to be the next leader of the Tories as background moves look to be taking place.

Only on Monday was there predominant talk of Mordaunt to replace Boris, but such is the way in which UK politics works that can all change in a couple of days.

Boris Johnson is now just 1/10 to leave role as PM in 2022

UK politics was shocked on Tuesday evening with the resignations of Conservative cabinet ministers Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid.

This heaped the pressure on PM Boris Johnson with bookmakers now making it as short as 1/10 that Boris Johnson will leave his role as Prime Minister at some point in 2022.

That gives an implied probability of 90% that Boris Johnson's reign will be over within the next 6 months.

It's unclear what the Prime Minister does next but what is certain is that it won't get any easier for him over the next few weeks.

Boris Johnson is now as short as 1/10 to leave his role as UK Prime Minister at some point in 2022. It's unclear if he'll be up for another no confidence vote in the next few weeks or if he'll resign off his own back but there's a 90% chance he leaves.
