Maresca Favourite in Betting Market as Real Madrid Begin Search for New Manager

Real Madrid are once again in the hunt for a new manager after Xabi Alonso’s departure was confirmed by the club in an official statement on Monday night.

The former midfielder, who enjoyed legendary status at the Bernabeu as a player, leaves by mutual consent following a mixed spell in charge of Los Blancos’ first team.

Real’s hierarchy now face a crucial decision over who takes the reins ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and bookmakers have installed former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca as the early front-runner.

Alvaro Arbeloa has been revealed as the new head coach according to popular journalist Fabrizio Romano, but it's unclear if that is for a long term.

According to BetVictor, Maresca is evens (1/1) to be appointed next, following his brief but promising tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is 4/1 second favourite.

A longer sabbatical had been expected but Real Madrid’s global stature could be enough to tempt him sooner than thought.

Club legend Zinedine Zidane, who has already enjoyed two successful spells in the Bernabeu dugout, sits at 6/1.

What the expert says...
Maresca’s odds suggest a deal may already be progressing behind the scenes. Klopp offers more experience, but Real Madrid may see Maresca’s tactical profile as better suited to their long-term ambitions.
