I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • Ange Postecoglou sacked 17 minutes after Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea.
  • His 39-day reign is the shortest permanent managerial spell in Premier League history.
  • Sean Dyche is odds-on favourite at 4/9 to take over at the City Ground.

Just 17 minutes after full-time, Ange Postecoglou was dismissed as Nottingham Forest manager, bringing an abrupt end to what is now the shortest permanent managerial spell in Premier League history.

The Australian's exit follows a heavy 0-3 home defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday, a result that left Forest hovering just above the drop zone.

As of Saturday night, they had slipped into the bottom three, prompting immediate action from the club's board.

UK Betting Sites now give odds on who will be the next Nottingham Forest manager with two candidates leading the way ahead of the rest of the market.

Sean Dyche is the odds-on favourite at BetVictor, with former Man City and Italy manager Roberto Mancini second favourite.

Roberto Mancini7/436.4%

Sean Dyche's experience in relegation battles makes him the natural frontrunner, particularly with Forest now firmly embroiled in a fight to avoid the drop.

Dyche, currently out of work following his departure from Everton, has been linked with several Premier League vacancies in recent months.

Record-Breaking Short Spell for Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou was brought in with the hope of steadying Forest’s early-season inconsistency.

But five games, four defeats, and just one point later, the gamble has spectacularly failed.

His time in charge lasted just 39 days, making it the shortest permanent managerial stint in the Premier League era, beating the previous record held by Les Reed at Charlton Athletic (40 days in 2006).

What the expert says...
This isn’t the first time Forest have made a managerial change mid-season and Dyche’s availability and experience make him the clear frontrunner. However, don’t rule out an ambitious move for a European name especially given the club’s previous risk-taking approach with Postecoglou.
