  • United cut to 4/1 to beat Arsenal at the Emirates this Sunday.

Carrick’s Red Devils See Betting Support Surge After Derby Win

UK betting sites have reacted swiftly to Manchester United’s 2-0 derby win over Manchester City by slashing odds across a host of Michael Carrick-related markets, with fans and punters showing new optimism for the interim manager’s impact.

Carrick, who took charge after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim earlier this month, made an immediate impression with a confident victory over Pep Guardiola’s side at Old Trafford.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu were enough to seal the win, and with two more matches before the end of January, the betting markets have quickly reshaped.

Bookmakers, including bet365, are now offering a range of Michael Carrick betting specials, focusing on how far the new boss can take this rejuvenated Manchester United side.

Bookies React to a New-Look United

United’s sharp turnaround in tempo and attitude under Carrick has taken many by surprise, especially after an uninspired end to Ruben Amorim’s reign.

But it wasn’t just the win that impressed, it was how they played.

bet365's Steve Freeth said: "United looked a different side to the one we'd become accustomed to under Ruben Amorim, shutting down City's attack and constantly threatening the City goal."

Freeth added that punters took notice immediately. “United were as big as 40/1 to win their first three games under Carrick, but with the first test out of the way, the double of Arsenal away and Fulham at home is now 7.25/1.”

A win at the Emirates would further solidify Carrick’s credentials and betting sites have taken precautions by trimming United’s odds to 4/1 to beat Arsenal, a significant drop from 6/1 just days ago.

What’s Next for Carrick?

United face Arsenal next, before hosting Fulham.

Should Carrick guide the club to two more wins, talk will surely intensify around a permanent appointment, especially with current frontrunner Oliver Glasner set to leave Crystal Palace in the summer.

If United maintain their home form, there’s a real chance Carrick could defy early expectations.

A top five finish is no longer a long shot and neither is catching a stuttering Manchester City.
