Elton John is confirmed as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2023
Elton John has been confirmed as the first headliner for the 2023 Glastonbury Festival after confirming the news on his social channels on Friday morning.
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said in a statement, "It gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that the one and only Elton John will be making his first ever Glastonbury appearance, headlining the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night next year".
The superstar will wrap up the festival on Sunday evening by playing the last UK date of his farewell tour.
John was 1/2 to headline the Festival just a week ago with Arctic Monkeys always being ahead of him in the betting market.
Arctic Monkeys remain 1/10 to headline the famous festival
Arctic Monkeys are now 1/10 to headline next year's Glastonbury according to bookies with rumours continuing around their headline chances.
The band announced a massive stadium tour for 2023 last month and left the Friday and Saturday of Glastonbury free in the schedule.
With their odds so short it looks hard to see anyone else doing the Friday of Glastonbury next year.

Guns N' Roses second favourites in the betting market at 1/2 as rumours ramp up
Legendary rock band Guns N' Roses are the 1/2 second favourites in the betting market to headline next year's Glastonbury.
The latest betting odds give them a 66% chance of being one of the remaining 2 headliners for the famous festival in 2023.
Just last year festival organiser Emily Eavis said that Guns N' Roses 'need' to play Glastonbury at some point.
It looks increasingly likely that that some point that Eavis was referring to will come true in 2023.
