  • Manchester City are the 7/10 favourites with bet365 to beat Chelsea in the 2026 FA Cup Final at Wembley on Saturday
  • Chelsea are available at 15/4 under interim boss Calum McFarlane, who drew 1-1 with City at the Etihad Stadium in his first game in charge back in January
  • City are appearing in their fourth consecutive FA Cup Final, having lost the last two, to Manchester United in 2024 and Crystal Palace in 2025

The Perfect Farewell Or Chelsea's Finest Hour?

Wembley Stadium has been home to some of the most extraordinary moments of Pep Guardiola's managerial career, and on Saturday it could stage the final chapter of his time at Manchester City.

Bet365 have City as the 7/10 favourites to lift the FA Cup against Chelsea in what is shaping up to be one of the most emotionally charged finals in recent memory.

The context surrounding this final is unlike anything the competition has produced in years. Guardiola, who has won 12 trophies at Wembley, including two with Barcelona and two FA Cups, three Community Shields and five League Cups with City, is widely reported to be leaving the club at the end of this season after a decade that has redefined English football.

No announcement has been made, but the growing feeling at the Etihad is that this final, against a Chelsea side in turmoil and managed by an interim boss, represents the closing act of the most successful managerial reign in City's history.

The Premier League title has slipped away, and Arsenal have it in their grasp. The FA Cup is basically all that remains, and Guardiola does not intend to go quietly.

City's Case: Back to Winning Ways at Wembley

Manchester City's route to this final has been one of growing momentum. They have become the first side to reach four consecutive FA Cup Finals, though the record comes with a painful caveat as they have lost the last two, to Manchester United in 2024 and Crystal Palace in 2025.

The squad Guardiola has at his disposal is formidable. Haaland, Doku and Cherki will all be returning to the starting XI after being rested in City's last Premier League fixture.

City have won both of their previous Wembley appearances this season, beating Arsenal 2-0 in the Carabao Cup Final and coming from behind to beat Southampton 2-1 in the FA Cup semi-final. At 7/10, the market is reflecting that form with clarity.

Chelsea's Case: McFarlane's Miracle On The Cards

It would be easy, and wrong, to dismiss Chelsea's chances entirely.

The 15/4 price implies a 21.1% probability of a Chelsea victory, and there is genuine substance behind that number. McFarlane's interim tenure has been defined by pragmatism, resilience and an ability to organise a Chelsea side that has looked more coherent under his stewardship than it did in the closing weeks of Liam Rosenior's time in charge.

Chelsea's most recent result was a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, a performance that showed the Blues retain the quality to compete against top-half opposition when properly motivated.

The precedent of January's draw at the Etihad is the number Chelsea will be pointing to in their team meetings this week.

McFarlane's first game in interim charge produced a 1-1 result at City's own ground, a result that demonstrated Chelsea's ability to frustrate Guardiola's side and hit on the counter.

The referee appointment also carries its own subplot. Darren England, the VAR official whose four-minute, 17-replay decision to disallow Callum Wilson's equaliser for West Ham against Arsenal last Sunday generated enormous controversy, has been appointed as the match referee for Saturday's final. The appointment will not be lost on either set of supporters.

What the expert says...
Manchester City at 7/10 is a fair price for a side with Haaland, Doku and Cherki all available, a full squad fit and rested, and a manager who has made winning at Wembley into something close to a habit. The emotional weight of a potential Guardiola farewell adds another layer of motivation to a side that does not need it. City to win in 90 minutes is the straightforward bet, and I would not argue with anyone who takes it. The draw at 31/10 is the value option if you believe Chelsea's organisational discipline and McFarlane's pragmatism can keep City at bay and force extra time.
