Mary Earps now has 90% chance of winning Sports Personality of the Year for 2023
England Women's goalkeeper Mary Earps is now as short as 1/10 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award after being a key player at the 2023 World Cup which saw England reach the final for the first time.
Earps saved a penalty in that final loss in a tournament where she conceded just four goals and won the Golden Glove award for her three clean sheets.
The England Lionesses shot stopper is the heavy favourite for the SPOTY award this year with the latest betting odds from Paddy Power suggesting there's a 90% chance of her winning the award.
Ronnie O'Sullivan had been the biggest market mover with bookmakers for the award in recent weeks after his UK Championship win but he was a shock omission from the shortlist.

Six contenders will go against each other for the award this year
The BBC announced the full contenders for the Sports Personality of the Year award earlier this week with six different stars battling against each other for one of the biggest accolades in British sport.
This year's Sports Personality of the Year is the 70th edition of the awards which are presented annually and they will be held at MediaCityUK in Salford this time around.
The six nominees for the award are:
- Stuart Broad - Cricketer
- Frankie Dettori - Jockey
- Mary Earps - Footballer
- Alfie Hewett - Wheelchair Tennis
- Katarina Johnson-Thompson - Athlete
- Rory McIlroy - Golf
Stuart Broad is the shortest priced challenger for Earps at 8/1
Stuart Broad seems like the only realistic contender for Earps according to the latest betting market which puts him as the 7/1 second favourite behind the England goalkeeper.
Broad retired from all forms of Cricket earlier this year with a fairytale ending seeing him get the final wicket of the match to give England the win in the 5th Ashes test of this summer's series.
His retirement may make the public voters vote for him to win the award this year but the latest odds for Broad give him just a 12% chance of doing so.
