Is this a football bet that can make a steady profit

I have been looking around for a bet that shows a profit from betting on all football matches, although i cannot guarantee that it has made a profit as i am unable to check the prices from the winning matches.

The bet is for over 3.5 Goals in the game.

The Premiership

So far this season there have been 69 Premiership games and of those 26 have seen at least 4 goals in the game, if all matches were priced at 2/1 then the bet would be 9 points in profit, just for the Premiership.

But like i said, i am unable to verify the profit as i cannot check what prices they were, however, here is a list of the winning matches to date.

Premiership - August

Fulham 5 Norwich 0

QPR 0 Swansea 5

Manchester City 3 Southampton 2

Chelsea 4 Reading 2

Aston Villa 1 Everton 3

Manchester United 3 Fulham 2

Premiership - September

Liverpool 2 Manchester City 2

Swansea 2 Sunderland 2

Wigan 2 Stoke 2

Manchester City 3 QPR 1

Southampton 2 Manchester United 3

Arsenal 6 Southampton 1

Manchester United 4 Wigan 0

Reading 1 Tottenham 3

Everton 2 Newcastle 2

Southampton 4 Aston Villa 1

Everton 3 Southampton 1

Norwich 2 Liverpool 5

Reading 2 Newcastle 2

Manchester United 2 Tottenham 3

Premiership - October

Chelsea 4 Norwich 1

Swansea 2 Reading 2

West Brom 3 QPR 2

Wigan 2 Everton 2

West Ham 1 Arsenal 3

Southampton 2 Fulham 2

Looking at some of the matches and the teams involved, some of those games might actually have been slightly better than 2/1, although some of the games with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City & Man Utd in were probably less than 2/1, possibly around the 6/4-7/4 chance.

Here are the Premiership games for the weekend of 20th/21st October and the best price available from Paddypower/Bet365.

Tottenham v Chelsea @ 11/5

Fulham v Aston Villa @ 2/1

Liverpool v Reading @ 13/8

Manchester United v Stoke @ 6/4

Swansea v Wigan @ 9/4

West Brom v Manchester City @ 2/1

West Ham v Southampton @ 2/1

Norwich v Arsenal @ 7/4

Sunderland v Newcastle @ 5/2

QPR v Everton @ 11/5

With only 3 matches priced lower than 2/1, a profit could be made this week as i could easily see at least 4 of these games having at least 4 goals in them, although in Football nothing is easily predicted.

Tottenham v Chelsea, West Brom v Man City, Norwich v Arsenal & QPR v Everton are my 4 games that i think could well have 4 goals in them.

The Championship

So far this season there have been 120 games in the Championship, 40 of those have seen at least 4 goals in them, that would leave you at level profits if they were all priced at 2/1

League 1

So far this season there have been 129 games in League 1, 34 have seen at least 4 goals in them, it's unlikely that we would be in profit for this league with this bet.

League 2

So far this season there have been 130 games in League 2, 44 have seen at least 4 goals in them, possibly a small profit.

Blue Square Premier

There have been 166 games played in the Blue Square Premier, 61 games have seen at least 4 goals in them, although with the history of lots of goals being scored in this league, it's unlikely that we could get 2/1 for every game. Saying that a profit can still be made if we can get 13/8 for every match, although some will be bigger occasionally.

Scottish Premier

So far this season there have been 53 games in the Scottish Premier, only 15 games have seen at least 4 goals in them, we would be seeing a loss in this league.

Scottish League 1

So far there have been 40 games in Scottish League 1, 15 games have seen at least 4 goals in them, if they were priced at 2/1 we would be in front.

Scottish League 2

So far there have been 40 games played in Scottish League 2, 16 of those have seen at least 4 goals in them, again a profit can be made if the average price is 2/1.

Scottish League 3

So far there have been 33 games played in Scottish League 3, 15 games have seen at least 4 goals in them, with Rangers being in this league, it's unlikely that we would get 2/1 for games they are playing in, but still, there could be a profit in this league.

Overall Verdict

These verdicts are my prediction of games that have already been played, every game is different and there is no way i can guarantee that as many goals will be scored, but if goal scoring continues on it's current ratio then the comments below are correct.Premiership - A profit can be made if the goals continue as they are

Championship - Touch & Go as to whether a profit can be made

League 1 - Leave alone, not as many goals as could be

League 2 - A small profit could be gained

Blue Square Premier - Depending on the prices, 7/4 or bigger could see a nice little profit

Scottish Premier - leave alone, making a loss plus Celtic would always be a short price

Scottish 1st - Always goals in this league, could do well

Scottish 2nd - As above, always goals in this league

Scottish 3rd - Leave alone if prices are 6/4 or less, which they probably will be when Rangers play, otherwise it could work well

If there is enough interest then i will work out some of the leagues in Europe over the International weekend.

As always, be lucky with your punting and sensible with your gambling
