Profitable Betting On Your Team

Most of us support a team and are regularly advised not to blindly bet on our team because of this support. However, can a profit be made by you knowing most about the team you support. We ran a betting test on two teams.

Backing Your Team - Leicester City

We investigated two EPL teams at the end of 2020 to see how they performed.

We placed 1 point win bets on every one of their games to see if a betting profit could be made

Leicester City Results

Versus Result Odds
WBA W 2.35
Burnley W 1.64
Man City W 10.00
West Ham L -1
Aston Villa L -1
Arsenal W 4.25
Leeds W 2.97
Wolves W 2.47
Liverpool L -1
Fulham L -1
Sheffield United W 2.0
Brighton W 2.12
Everton L -1
Tottenham W 3.75
Man Utd D -1
Crystal Palace  D -1
Total
+15.55

A profit can be made by backing any team that wins a greater number of matches than anticipated, whether that be several at short odds or a mere handful if the odds are good enough.

Recognising teams that fall into the first category is not too difficult.

That also means less profit as more punters are aware of these teams. The second category is where better profits are likely to be made with good judgment.

Leicester have surprised some bettors by winning games where they were outsiders, most notably against Tottenham and Man City away from home.

Had you backed them to 1 point in every game in the EPL in 2020/21 you would have made a profit of 15.55 pts from 16 bets.

Backing Your Team - Arsenal

I think we can agree that Arsenal have had a poor season in 2020/21.

Manager Mikel Arteta was at one stage favourite to be the next manager to be relieved of his duties.

Yet amazingly had you backed Arsenal in every game they played (17 games) you would have made a very slight profit of .44 despite their perceived poor form

Arsenal Results

Versus Result Odds
Fulham W 1.68
West Ham W 1.53
Liverpool L -1
Sheffield United W 1.51
Man City L -1
Leicester L -1
Man Utd W 4.0
Aston Villa L -1
Leeds D -1
Wolves L -1
Tottenham L -1
Burnley L -1
Southampton D -1
Everton L -1
Chelsea W 5.0
Brighton W 2.15
West Brom W 1.57
Total
+0.44

So, if you know your team then consider backing them, you may be surprised at the profits you can make.

You can see the figures above, and we will return to them at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Why not consider researching your team or a team you consider could be overpriced in certain games, you may end the season or a Euro/World Cup tournament having made a profit.

Ultimately it will come down to the odds on offer in individual games.
