EPL Manager Of The Month

We would all love to be able to know when we think a certain football team will win their next game.

Sadly football is as unpredictable as the weather and shocks happen in every set of fixtures.

I have been looking at different things to see if a pattern has emerged regarding when to back a certain team to win a

I have found a system and strategy that yields a 76% strike rate, although it only comes from 17 matches.

For the new 2020/21 EPL season we will have an OLBG forum thread to monitor the results, and hopefully profit from this idea and or tweak the idea.

What Is The Strategy?

I have gone back through the 2011/2012 & 2012/2013 football seasons and looked at every team that picked up the Manager Of The Month award.

17 manager of the month awards were given out in that period and the strategy is simply to back the team winning the award in their next league game.

The only problem I have is that I don't know for certain when the awards were given out.

The EPL seems to vary the announcement, although allowing time for votes to be places and verified would indicate that sometime between the 5th and 9th of the following month, would be when the winner is announced.

I am assuming the Manager Of The Month awards are announced before the first league game of the following month, if that is correct then here are the results for the 2020/21 season.

League Month Manager Team
EPL October 2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti Everton
Championship October 2020/21 Veljko Paunovic Reading

In a truncated 2019/20  season due to the pandemic, the following managers received the EPL Manager Of The Month award.

Month Manager Team
June Nuno Espirito Santo Wolverhampton Wanderers
February Sean Dyche Burnley
January Jurgen Klopp Liverpool
December Jurgen Klopp Liverpool
November Jurgen Klopp Liverpool
October Frank Lampard Chelsea
September Jurgen Klopp Liverpool
August Jurgen Klopp Liverpool
