There has never been a lot between these two in this competition, but overall Mark seems to do best in this and is 4-1 up on John. He has never won by much, but the +1.5 on those results looks like a good bet at 1.91.

Of the eight last 16 matches, only one of them went to the final frame. Statistically then, a one frame handicap therefore only has a very small chance of making a difference to the actual result. It's John who has had the slightly stronger form coming into the World Championships, so you can boost your odds and add extra value to your bet by backing him in the handicap market for very little extra risk.

8-8 after the 2nd part and should be close till the end. Higgins with the first chance in my opinion. He is 8-2 recently while Williams was in poor form before this tournament.

The last time John Higgins and Mark Williams met in a major tournament, it finished 6-5 at The Masters. I am tipping this quarter-final is going to be another meeting that goes all the way to a final frame. Higgins beat Xiao Guodong 13-12 in the last round, and my tip is he beats Williams by the same scoreline.

These two players have met a massive 69 times, with John Higgins having won 38 of them. He arguably comes into the match with the better form, having recently won the Tour Championship, and he is taken to win 13-10.

This should be a cracker between these two Class of '92 players. Both are in great form, and either player could win. I think Williams has been the slightly better player over the tournament, but this might well go the distance to produce the winner.

Clash of the titans once more. Both players had difficult assignments in the first two rounds. Higgins came through a grueling match against Xiao Guodong, while Williams closed the show brilliantly against Hossein Vafaei. Toss of a coin, but I do like Williams at the prices. Expecting 23+ frames to be played here, nonetheless.

Previous results between these two suggest another close match, but Mark seems to excel in this and has won 4 of their 5 matches. Those results put this to a 2 or 3 frame win, but it could be closer. I think that 13-10 for Mark would be a good guess, but it could go either way.

With nothing much between the prices of what is predicted to be close, I think maybe 13-9 Williams is a fair price at 14/1. He won at this stage a few years ago 13-7, but John is in better form now. Maybe Mark can get a lead and win a few of the mini sessions 3-1, and so could see 13-9 as potential.

These two players have shown their class once again to reach the quarter-finals of the World Championships. John Higgins is yet to hit top gear, and today could be the day. He has won six of their last nine meetings. If Higgins has a good first session, he could pull away to win by five frames.

Just 2 world ranking places between the two players and little in recent past meetings between them. But Mark Williams has looked in better form in this World Championship in reaching the quarterfinals so far.
