7:00 Wolverhampton Tips

Still a maiden after 16 starts but has been in good form. Slightly disappointing on turf the last couple of runs, but travels better on the all-weather and has been given a chance by the handicapper (down 3 pounds since the last AW run). Well drawn in stall one and Marquand booked; should go close. Forecast 9/2.

The 6yo has been sprinting in his last three races, not great, but he'll be fresh after a five-week break and will have a more suitable pace over this 8.5f trip tonight. Suited by this track, rated much higher last year. He was only beaten by a neck over this C/D during Feb, facing much lower-rated rivals now and has a 4 lb lower mark.

Has been running consistently well in defeat, but both career wins have been at this track. Makes first start for a new yard and should be there or thereabouts.

John McConnell sends this horse on the long trip from Ireland over to Wolverhampton. Presumably the trainer sees an opportunity to add to the horse's single win after several decent efforts at Dundalk. A visor replaces blinkers. The horse appears fairly handicapped. Each-way chance at least.

His win came off a 1 lb higher mark at Kempton in December. Three of his four runs since have been at a better level than this. He was dropped back into this grade last time, but that was over a shorter trip and he got outpaced before running on. This trip should be ideal.

Terries Royale has been carefully descended to a low mark of 58 since joining Tony Carroll a couple of months ago. It is an art in its own right to do this as well as it has been. I'm not sure if this will be the race they will aim for a win, but this one's chance of winning has become a lot more likely.

If ridden by plenty of other jockeys, I think this one would have an excellent chance. CD winner in December off 4 lb higher, but that was when Billy Loughnane rode. This 7 lb apprentice has had 17 rides and not finished in the first two yet, but I think the trainer has given her a good chance today and can get amongst the four places.

Needs the first-time hood to work. If it does, then he has a very good chance of the win. Finished a three-length fourth of 12 over CD back in October for previous trainer Willie Haggas and is 2 lb lower here. No surprises if the hood brings significant improvement.
