8:15 Newcastle Tips

As with quite a few of these Racing League races there always seem to be quite a few who find it really hard to win at the grade. The races are also more competitive than they are used to, so sometimes the race can be narrowed down to just a few. I think this race is like that, and I have a strong preference for the Harry Charlton trained, Tremolo. The three year old looks very progressive, and will be ideally suited to the way this track is running at the moment, quite slow and testing.

Top weight Talis Evolere looks interesting here, returned to AW and dropped to Class 3. He has won and been placed in his two previous starts at Newcastle and has also won at Wolverhampton and Kempton, with his last win being at Chelmsford in January off 95. He has been placed twice this year, including in a Class 2 handicap in June off 94. Now dropping to 91, he looks to have a good EW chance with 4 places on offer.

Nudged up 3lb in a higher class than the race he won last time. It will be tougher this time around, but he is beginning to look useful and already has winning form on Tapeta, having won previously at Southwell. EW chance.

Won for me three weeks ago and still remains consistent. Placed in the last five races. Remaining faithful for a three-timer despite the hefty weight addition.

Visored for the first time when a staying on third of eleven over the extended mile at Wolverhampton last time out. The slight drop in trip on the straight mile appeals and Paul Mulrennan taking the ride looks a positive sign.

This horse is 13 lbs well in against the older horse with WFA and the jockey's 7 lb claim. He has shown good consistent form in Ireland and represents a top Irish yard. The fact they send him over for this on such favorable terms speaks volumes, and he must be considered a likely winner.

Seems a tricky one to rule out does NIKOVO, who has been very competitive here at Newcastle in recent months and is forgiven for the last time out showing at Yarmouth. Is one pound lighter for this one and looks capable of getting involved at a tempting price with that course form.
