He’s effective at 10f to 12f, acts on any ground, and has a 60% win rate at this distance. He’s also won 4 times in 6 runs wearing a tongue strap, with a 66% strike rate, which is very strong.

Notched up his ninth Group 3 win when winning at Newbury in October. Won this race last year and loves this ground. Can win today under a penalty.

Taking a chance on Arabian Crown to go close here. Back to winning ways at Windsor last time out, winning in listed company over 11½f on good to firm ground last year in August. The 12f trip should not be a problem today. Had a disappointing run here before that. Can go well fresh today. Trainer Charlie Appleby's yard is 4-15 at Goodwood with 4yr+ runners. The yard does well over 12f trips with 4yr+ runners with a 24% SR. They have an excellent 30% SR in listed company with 4yr+ runners. Jockey William Buick is on the board. He has a 25% SR riding 4yr+ runners in listed company. He does well over this distance with an 18% SR. So I think Arabian Crown has a good each-way chance in this one.

The y-ward in form and the jockey, one of the best there is, make for a potent combination. This strong puller is consistent, and I'm hoping that Oisin can get the best from him.

Midak has been very highly tried in Meydan since transferring to the Ian Williams yard, running in Group 1 in January and then in a Listed race three weeks later (wore a hood), which has now been dispensed with. Now back on turf, with the excellent Jamie Spencer in the saddle, he could well run a big race at huge odds. Won a Group 3 when trained in France on similar soft ground they will encounter today, so well worth considering.
