Saracen brings dark-horse potential to this sprint despite the long absence. He made a great debut with a course-and-distance win before running a cracking third in a Listed race here. The Group 3 flop at Ascot came on fast ground he clearly hated, so today’s easier surface over 7f plays to his strengths as a lightly raced Siyouni with sprint pedigree and has a 3 lb claimer aboard. First-time tongue-tie could sharpen him up, and he is my each-way value in a race that he could dominate if ready.

Admiral Stewart has a fair bit in his favour. If the first-time cheekpieces and wind surgery sharpen him up, we could be onto a winner. He returned to form with a great third in a handicap chase here last time, staying on late, and there’s still a competitive race in him off 117. He’s already a winner on this ground and won over this trip at Ffos Las also.

Valvano looks a serious player here, and the first-time blinkers and tongue tie make him very interesting. He ran right up to form when beaten two lengths off this mark over a shorter trip here LTO. He’s already shown me that he handles the course, stays this trip, and has the profile of a horse that could improve with the extra focus, especially with Beckett’s yard in form and Crouch booked. The key point for me is that he’s still unexposed at this distance, and with a bit of cut in the ground plus the new headgear, he has every chance if he settles.

Largy Force arrives seeking a double after his Wetherby win. He scored by 3 lengths off a 6 lb lower mark last time, and the way he traveled and kept finding under Sean Bowen says there’s still more to come off 114 despite the hike. His record over 2m4f to 3m is strong. He’s already won at the course and distance. The combination of stamina, reliable jumping, and a top rider makes him stand out to me. He’s not bombproof, but he’s got the right profile for a repeat bid here.

King Jon Oliver has a solid chance if he can rebound from that heavy-ground flop LTO. He had been in good form before that, including a strong win at Fakenham over 2m4f where he made all and stayed on well. His best efforts have come on better ground. He’s already proven in this class, has useful form at 2m to 2m7f, and the return to quicker conditions should suit him much better than the deep ground that he hated last time.

Sunset On Leros looks a major player despite the layoff. He ran an excellent third in the Italian Group 3 Premio Gran Criterium at San Siro after landing a Listed contest earlier, now getting franked form from his rivals. His Almanzor colt is bred to relish the step up to 1m. Daniel Muscutt takes the ride, and as a lightly raced 3yo on 99, he can dominate this field if ready.

Glint of Light is a consistent filly who could bounce back with first-time headgear. She was well out of it on softer ground last time, but prior to that she'd been in excellent form with a win and multiple places over 10 to 12f. Now, after switching yards, she's still on a fair mark of 63, and her course-and-distance second here might be the right timing. First-time hood plus blinkers could help her travel with more zip under Lewis, and as an unexposed 4yo who stays this trip, she's got solid each-way claims.

Moore Brion made a very good impression on debut, travelling well enough to rally and win by over a length. Sean Bowen is a big plus. Olly Murphy does very well with these sorts, and the fact he’s among the day’s market movers stands out here. He’s returning from a break, but with the debut form already looking solid and the step up to 2m should be right up his street, so he’s a strong win in my book.
