Bay Of Brilliance has to be my pick. The expected favorite, Enceladus, has been doing well but has not run in group company. My pick was second in a Listed event in May and fourth in the G1 Betfred Derby at Ascot in June. Although he was at the back of the pack in his latest G1 run in Germany, I think he can still do this with a drop to G2 today.

Richard Hannon's progressive colt is a massive performance threat who remains completely on the right side of the handicapper. He proved his class when just edged out in a high-caliber renewal of the London Gold Cup at Newbury. He stayed on eye-catchingly at Royal Ascot after being given far too much to do from off the pace. Now running freshly gelded, his sectional acceleration lines suggest he is completely thriving. He is highly projected to track the leaders cleanly before unleashing a lethal finish up the hill.

Magnitude looks a leading contender in the 3.00 at Goodwood after producing smart form in top-class company. He has the stamina for this demanding test, handles undulating tracks well, and still has scope for improvement. If he settles into a good rhythm early, he has the class to stay on strongly and take this prestigious contest.
