MLS Format and Past Winners
The Major League Soccer, better known as the MLS is an American soccer league that was first established in 1993 and includes three teams from Canada.
The league is split into two leagues with Western and Eastern conferences which resembles other American sports.
The overall highest points scorer is crowned with the Supporters Shield while the outright winner is crowned the MLS Cup Champions.
As mentioned the league is split into conferences, each team plays the other teams in the conference home and away.
Also, they play one match against teams in the other conference, totalling thirty-four games in the regular season.
As of 2019, the top seven from each conference advance into the MLS Cup where the final will always be between one team from each conference.
