The 21st Season certainly seems like it’s going to be one to remember and betting on American Idol is hotting up. The last episode, which aired on April 17, 2023, saw the Final 26 contestants visit Disney’s Aulani Resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii, where the second half of the 26 final contestants performed. Next week (April 23), that list will be culled down to the final 20 – six contestants will be eliminated and sent home.

The performances, as per usual, were somewhat of a mixed bag – although a handful of contestants truly showcased what American Idol is all about with their stunning vocal chops. Pop singer Noah Cyrus mentored one-half of the top 26 singers, while soul singer Allen Stone mentored the other 13 contestants ahead of the top 26 performances, which finished on April 17th. Oddsmakers have weighed in on who is best-positioned to take home the season 21 title.

Iam Tongi Remains The Surefire Favourite to Win the Competition at +250

Ever since his touching audition of “Monsters” by James Blunt (dedicated to his late father Rodney), Iam Tongi has maintained his position as the most popular contestant of the 21st season. In the last episode, Tongi continued his excellent string of performances with Spawnbreezie’s “Don’t Let Go”. The singer has managed to consistently wow the judges with his crystal clear tone. At this point in the competition, it would be a major upset if Tongi didn’t make it to the top five.

Nutsa, We Ani, and Colin Stough Follow Closely

Nutsa is definitely the No. 2 most popular contestant at this stage of the competition, closely following Hawaiian-native Iam Tongi. She managed to impress the audience and the judges alike with her performance of “Paris (Oh La La)” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals – showcasing her growth in performance throughout the competition.

Is there any song We Ani can’t perform? The singer has really flexed her versatility as a singer, choosing a rock number for this performance, “Edge of Midnight” by Miley Cyrus. She definitely pulled it off and is certainly a contestant to hedge your bets on making it far in the competition.

Colin Stough delivered a great performance of “Midnight Train to Georgia” by The Steeldrivers, which the judges enjoyed. He did receive some criticism for his stage presence, however, as the judges want him to make more eye contact with the audience. Still, we’d keep our eyes on Stough’s prospects in the competition moving forward.

Dawson Wayne Deemed Least Likely to Make it Far

Dawson Wayne has had an uphill battle from the audition stages, up until this point. His vocals aren’t the most powerful and he doesn’t have a great range, but his unique vocal delivery has kept him in the competition so far. While he is definitely an interesting candidate, we personally do not think he has the natural talent to make it into the top 10. That being said, he does remain somewhat of a fan favorite, so you may manage to win big by hedging your bets on him early on in the competition.
