The xWays Hoarder 2 slot game is the sequel to xWays Hoarder xSplit (released in July 2021). With the first outing set in a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, you aimed to join a band of misfits as they hoard toilet paper and gas masks whilst stealing cars to survive.

In the sequel, the aim is still to survive the wasteland but the number 1 rule is to trust no one but yourself. Using the same soundtrack (which is one of my favourites ever), the setting is a dingy, underground bunker where there is a ‘Feed Tube’. The latter suggests brave survivors put food down the tube for the others who ‘survive’ in the bunker: pretty bleak I say.

On the reels, symbols include low-value rolls of empty loo roll, bottles of poison, flammable liquid, a first-aid kit and bags of ‘Shitties’. The higher-value symbols include misfits Nerd, Hillbilly, Fuzzy, Dr Dwayne, Skeletor and Karen herself. Karen is the highest-paying symbol awarding 5 times your total bet for 6 in combination. xWays Hoarder 2 also benefits from several special symbols. There is a Vinegar Crisps Wild symbol which substitutes for all symbols above. You’ll also find xWays, razor blade xSplit Wild, xSplit Nudge, Loot, Access Key Scatter and Access Key Super Scatter symbols. I will go into their functions in more detail within the Bonus Features section (below).

xWays Hoarder 2 Mobile

Nolimit City slot games are created with the use of HTML5 technology. Adapting to mobile, desktop and tablet devices, the technology automatically detects your chosen device and serves the appropriate version. If you’re an iOS or Android smartphone user (which most of us are), Portrait Mode will be used. This makes better use of the vertical screen for an enhanced playing experience.

That said, with all the details NLC put into their slot games as well as the various mechanics which increase the number of ways and much more, a laptop or PC screen would be my personal preference.

The xWays Hoarder 2 slot has 9 bonus features. With xWays and xSplit Wilds, Nolimit City has added xSplit Nudge symbols and a Loot Respin feature where you aim to fill the reels with these special symbols. Offering 3 free spins features, collect special symbols to advance through the Radiation Levels where the lowest-value symbols are removed from the reels.

xWays

Found on countless NLC slots, there is an xWays symbol that can land on the 4 middle reels (i.e. reels 2, 3, 4 and 5). When an xWays symbol appears, it performs one of the following functions:

• Reveals a random paying symbol.
• If multiple xWays symbols land, they all reveal the same paying symbol.
• Each xWays symbol ranges from 2-12 in size. The more symbols, the more ways to win.

On the last point, 1 xWays symbol will expand from 2-4 in size whilst 2 connected xWays symbols on the same reel can expand from 3-8 in size. If you see 3 connected xWays symbols on the same reel, it can expand from 4-12 in size.

xSplit Wilds 

Look out for xSplit Wild symbols which land on reels 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (i.e. not reel 1). They split all symbols to the left on the same row and double that symbol. If a symbol is split more than once, a multiplier is displayed. With Loot symbols not split, xWays symbols can be split with the xWays multiplier doubled with every split.

xSplit Nudge

Like xSplit Wilds, xSplit Nudge symbols land on all reels except reel 1. Landing as a stacked symbol, it always nudges and stops just before a special symbol (if any appear). Every xSplit Nudge position then splits symbols to the left on the same row and doubles that symbol.

This continues until no new special symbols land. Once this happens, reel 1 is unlocked with 1 final respin taking place. A Loot symbol may appear which in turn retriggers the Loot Respin feature.

Loot Respin

The Loot Respin feature is triggered when you land a Loot symbol as well as any special symbol in the base game. The Loot symbol expands on reel 1 and locks in position. If an xWays, xSplit Wild, Scatter or xSplit Nudge special symbol lands, you’ll get another respin with the special symbols sticky for that respin.

When no special symbols land, reel 1 is unlocked with 1 final respin awarded. If a Loot symbol lands, the Loot Respin feature is retriggered.

Free Spins features

The xWays Hoarder 2 slot comes with 3 free spins features. Before I go into detail, it’s important to note that the Access Key Scatter symbol can appear on any reel except reel 1. An Access Key Scatter won’t be split by the xSplit Wild or xSplit Nudge symbol but will instead transform into an Access Key Super Scatter.

Raid Spins

The Raid Spins feature is triggered by landing 3 or more Access Key Scatter symbols. 3, 4 or 5 scatters will reward you with 7, 10 or 13 free spins respectively.

During the Raid Spins, xSplit Wild, xWays and xSplit Nudge symbols are sticky for the duration of the feature. The Access Key Super Scatter symbol converts itself and paying symbols below it to xSplit symbols too.

For every 3^rd xSplit Wild, xWays or xSplit Nudge symbol that lands, a new Radiation level is reached as the symbols are collected. With each Radiation Level reached, you will receive an extra free spin and as well as removing the lowest-value character and object symbol from play:

Plunder Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Access Key Scatters with at least 1 of them an Access Key Super Scatter will activate the Plunder Spins feature with 7, 10 or 13 free spins, respectively.

The Super Scatter position and positions below it become sticky xSplit symbols. Like the Raid Spins feature, there are Radiation Levels which upgrade in the same way (by collecting xSplit Wild, xWays and xSplit Nudge symbols).

Binge Spins

Finally, you have the Binge Spins feature which is played when you progress to Radiation Level 4 in either the Raid or Plunder Spins features. The benefit is that only the 2 highest-paying character symbols (Karen and Skeletor) and the highest-paying object symbol (bag of Shitties) will appear on the reels.

Nolimit Booster

As with all NLC slot games, there are Nolimit Booster options which make it easier to trigger the various bonus features and extras in xWays Hoarder 2. They are as follows:

• xBet: Costing 3 times your total bet, you are 4 times more likely to trigger a free spins feature. The RTP is 96.06%
• 1 Guaranteed xSplit Nudge xBet: Costing 10 times your total bet, you are guaranteed at least 1 xSplit Nudge symbol. The RTP rate is 96.12%.
• Loot Respin xBet: Costing 30 times your total bet, you are guaranteed to trigger the Loot Respin feature. The RTP is 96.15%.

Nolimit Bonus

When I heard Nolimit City was releasing the xWays Hoarder 2 slot game, I was excited. The original game has such as an iconic soundtrack which NLC has managed to retain in the base game at least. Graphically, it has some similarities but things have got desperate so they’ve gone underground into a fortified bunker which has various levels.

With new characters, Karen from the first game and the Karen Maneater slot still is the star of the show. In terms of the gameplay, there are xWays and xSplit Wilds with Nolimit City adding xSplit Nudge symbols and the Loot Respins feature where you can fill the reels with xWays, xSplit Wild, Scatter and xSplit Nudge symbols for huge wins. 

When do you land a big win, you'll see Karen stuffing her face as she celebrates her birthday. Even though a big is an occasion to celebrate, Karen is quite repulsive and she's clearly had more than enough to eat despite the dire state of the post-apocalyptic world. It makes me think what would happen if Karen and the Fat Bastard from Gluttony ever got together!

In the free spins features, you need to collect special symbols to reach the various Radiation Levels which see the lowest-value character and object symbols removed from play. In the Plunder Spins, you’ll play with sticky xSplit symbols whilst in the Binge Spins, you only have the highest-value symbols in play.

With 25,920 times bet max wins, the xWays Hoarder 2 slot offers more than double the win potential of its predecessor (11,030 times bet max wins). The max win probability in the base game is 1 in 928,247 spins whilst it’s 1 in 14 million spins in the first outing! That said, your chances of achieving the max win increase when in the various bonus features:

In summary, xWays Hoarder 2 stays true to the original slot game but Nolimit City has added an extra reel giving you the chance to hoard more symbols. With a new Loot Respin feature, there is also an xSplit Nudge that nudges to fill the entire reel with xSplits before splitting all symbols to the left.
