100 Spins Test

This 100 Spin test was updated by Steve Madgwick on 15/11/2023

100 spins is not a Real Test

We give every slot a 100 spin test to see just what it can do, or not as the case can often be - 100 spins is no reflection of the likelihood of any other 100-spin session, as RTP's are set over many millions and probably billions of spins. So this 100 spin test is just for entertainment and insight purposes

Test Comments

Well, it's good fro time to time to be reminded how bad 100 spins can be and Ruff heaist from Play'N Go has done just that - With a low win frequency of just 14 winning spins in the session, providing an average win value of just 1.71x with a best of 6x, a very poor and under par 24% was the session RTP.

So in terms of the test there was virtually nothing in terms of entertainment value, and bear in mind, for the 24x returned in the session, there were 2 x collectors paying 5x and 6x, which highlighted even more just how poor the rest of the session was. - Play'N Go at it's most savage.

Game Data

When reading the game title I initially thought ‘Ah okay, another animal-themed game’ but this one does come with a cool British twist. You’ll discover a strong story, top graphics and cracking punk-esque music while you play.

As well as The Multiplier Feature mentioned in the summary there’s also The Free Spins bonus round where you’ll receive 10 Free Spins. Within the Free Spins, there’s a Trail Feature where you fill in the Trail at the top of the screen. Here you upgrade to the 3 different Dog Collectors and win cash prizes as you go along. You can also win extra free spins!

During this in-depth review, you’ll learn about all of the details of Ruff Heist, let’s begin!

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

The game has a superb opening sequence showing the mutley crew up to no good in a union jack’d up camper van with a licence plate of (ahem) BI6 BOI.

The background music in the base game has a punky edge to it which is a great match to the British theme. The words in the song wax lyrically about 3 mutts on the run. When you enter the Free Spins bonus round the music switches tempo to more of a soul vibe which differentiates the scenes well.

Traditional slot sound effects are mixed up with the occasional miaow when the Fat Cat Scatter Symbol lands, whose diamonds the Ruff Crew are trying to steal.

Key Features

Now that I’ve told you about the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, next in order is the key game features section.  Once this is covered you’ll have a clearer picture of the Ruff Heist slot game.

At OLBG we create slot games reviews that include accurate info about essential features such as themes, paylines and bonuses. Stay with me as I conclude the review with info about my play experience, first impressions and expert verdict.

Theme – Dogs

As a Brit, maybe I’m biased but I loved the British essence of the game. As soon as you launch it, you see a retro campervan alongside that great British stalwart of what else…but a pub. The story takes place in a gloomy British side street which is pouring with rain (what a surprise). A couple of stickers have been attached to the campervan. One includes the iconic British slogan of ‘Keep calm and carry on.’ However, in this case, the poster tells us to ‘keep calm and woofing on.’ The rebellious punk music in the background paints the picture fantastically of the 3 shady members of the Ruff Crew.

Within the character symbols on the reels, you’ll see a collection of treasures that have been stolen by Fat Cat. Starting with the highest value first, there’s a Fabergé golden egg, a turquoise and gold cat money box, a golden pocket watch, a fancy collar with a goldfish accessory and the Diamond Cash Symbols. After this, it’s the standard symbols of A, K, Q, J and 10 set in a colourful, posh animal tag setting. When you switch to the Free Spins bonus round the 3 dodgy-looking canines make more of an appearance on the reels. You see their mugs on The Trail where you fill up with Dog Collector Symbols. The Free Spins round takes place in a vault bursting to the brim with gold coins.

The Ruff Heist has the traditional setup of 5 reels by 3 rows.

You’ll discover 10 non-adjustable paylines when you play Ruff Heist.

You’ll see the acronym RTP on all slot sites and it means ‘return to player.’ It’s a way of telling players theoretically what percentage of their stakes will be returned to them over the long run. The figure is usually somewhere between 94%-96% but realistically I’d expect to see around 96%. The RTP rate for Ruff Heist is 96.19% which is slightly above average

Play n’Go, like all slot creators uses this RTP figure as a preset value so the percentage will vary across all of the operator sites out there. Therefore, it’s worth shopping around to see which rate you can find. But have no fear, we’ve saved you time by finding the RTP rates at some of the most popular UK online casinos and added these sites to our table below.

When deciding where to play there are a few factors to think about in addition to RTP. These include payment options, game titles, customer support and welcome bonuses and deals. You can read about all of this info when you read our casino site reviews.

Stake Range

There’s a reasonable stake range available that starts at £0.10 and goes up to £50.

Max Win

You can win up to 5,000x your stake when playing the Ruff Heist game.

Wild Shape

The Dog Collector Symbol represents the Wild Symbol and substitutes for all symbols apart from the Scatter Symbol. Dog Collector Symbols can land on the 5th reel in the base game and on all reels in the Free Spins bonus round.

Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatter Symbols triggers the Free Spins round. Landing 3 Scatters = 10 free spins, 4 Scatters =15 and 5 Scatters = 20. During the Free Spins round you’ll play the Trail at the top of the screen where. The Trail progresses with each Dog Collect symbol that lands. On each 4th Dog Collect symbol, 10 extra Free Spins will be awarded to you. Another element of the Free Spins round is the Cash Vault where a random cash value will be added to the Cash Vault for every spin. The total value of the Cash Vault is paid out once the Free Spins Trail has been completed and there are no more Free Spins available.

Like the majority of online slots today, there is not a direct jackpot reward. If jackpot games are your thing you should visit our page with the best jackpot slot games.

Play Experience & First Impressions

The Multiplier Feature was one to look out for and it means that if you land 3 or more Treat Rune, Diamond or Dog symbols it triggers a victory. If you trigger Dog Collect symbols on reel five, all Diamond Cash symbols will be instantly collected. Each Diamond Cash symbol has a Multiplier value assigned to it, which will be added to any winnings during the current spin. If you land the mega Golden Diamond Symbol it has a 5000x multiplier attached to it.

All of the Ruff Crew bring different abilities to the table via the Dog Collector Feature. T-Bone upgrades all of your prizes, Badge has a prize–collecting power-ups and Archie has an upgrade feature that harbours the ability to collect up to five times over.

The Free Spins Feature was fun and The Trail and Cash Vault layers made it entertaining. It didn't trigger that many times though.

Expert Verdict

Diamonds are a dog's best friend. Isn't that what they say? Well, something along those lines. Diamonds are certainly your best friend in this game and you want to see as many of them as possible. Collector games are popular in the world of slots and this game is one more to add to the collection (pardon the pun). It was enjoyable and the theme worked well with the features. The negatives were that I didn't trigger many entries to the bonus round and found the game’s high volatility rating combined with a 5,000x max win too low. I'd expect to see a far larger amount for a high rating like this.

However, the proof is in the (steak and kidney) pudding AKA the features. And these were great, the extra layers in the Free Spins added more fun and the Dog Collector and Mulpilplier Features were easy to follow and triggered a few times. Like many slot games, there’s not much going on in the base game, it’s pretty generic. However the standout part of this slot is the fantastic story, visuals and music, the designer has done a great job. So if this theme sounds like your cup of tea you’ll have a ball playing this game.
