Le Cowboy Slot (Hacksaw Gaming)

The Le Cowboy slot is played on a 6x5 grid with Cluster Pays. As with other Cluster Pays slot games, you need a certain number of matching symbols to appear in a cluster, touching horizontally and/or vertically. In this instance, you need 5 or more matching symbols. The maximum payout for each symbol is awarded when you land 14+ matching symbols.

With a Wild West theme, there is a new sheriff in town with Le Cowboy slot. Featuring Smokey, it’s the 6^th slot game in Hacksaw’s ‘Le’ series following the raccoon’s stints as Elvis, Zeus, a viking, a pharaoh and French bandit.

In this installment, you head to a classic frontier town where you’ll see Smokey sporting a Stetson hat, spurs and a pistol. The soundtrack is typically Western and ramps up when you land winning clusters. Le Cowboy uses the same fun, cartoon style as other games in the series.

On the 6x5 grid, you’ll see low-value A, K, Q, J and 10 royals. The higher-value symbols include cowboy hats, cacti, pistols, skulls and sheriff badges: the sheriff badge symbol is the best paying awarding 200 x your total bet for 14 or more appearing in a cluster.

Le Cowboy also benefits from several special symbols. First up is the Wanted Poster Wild which substitutes for all paying symbols above. Then you have a Revolver Cylinder scatter which reveal Coin Scatters, Diamond Scatters, Clover Scatters, Loot Bag Scatters and Reload Scatters. Finally, the other symbol of importance is the FS Scatter, which is key to trigger the free spins features.

Super Cascades

When you land a winning cluster, the Super Cascades feature will be activated. All winning cluster symbols will be removed from the grid with the remaining symbols dropping down into the empty positions. Revolver Reveals

If a winning cluster includes a Wanted Poster Wild symbol, it transforms into a Revolver Cylinder Scatter: this symbol then shoots between 2 and 6 symbols on the grid to reveal the following symbols:

• Coin Scatters: Bronze Coin Scatters have values ranging from 1 to 4 x bet. Silver Coin Scatters are worth 5 to 20 x bet, with Gold Coin Scatters containing values between 25 and 100 x bet.
• Diamond Scatters: worth 150, 200 or 500 x bet.
• Clover Scatters: Once all Clover Scatter symbols activated (after Coin and Diamond Scatters have revealed their values), Green Clover Scatters multiply Coin and Diamond Scatters or existing Loot Bags on adjacent squares with a multiplier from 2x to 20x. Gold Clover Scatters multiplier Coin and Diamond Scatters or Loot Bags with a multiplier between 2x and 20x.
• Loot Bag Scatters: these are activated once all Clover Scatters have applied their multipliers. Loot Bags basically collect the values of all Coin and Diamond Scatters as well as other activated Loot Bags. Activating top to bottom and left to right, all shot positions activate again to reveal new Coin and Diamond Scatters and Loot Bags.
• Reload Scatters: They refill all cylinders with 2 to 6 shots.

Allowing for more symbol hits and reveals, Revolver Cylinders and hit the same symbol multiple times. If Coin Scatters are hit more than once, they upgrade to the next Coin tier. If Green Clover Scatter symbols are hit again, they upgrade to Gold Clover Scatters.

High Noon Saloon Bonus

Landing 3 FS Scatter symbols anywhere on the grid will see you trigger the High Noon Saloon Bonus feature: you then have the choice between 10 free spins or a gamble.

If you choose the free spins, you’ll benefit from a higher chance of Revolver Cylinder Scatters. Landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters will reward you with 2 or 4 extra free spins, respectively. If you choose to gamble, a revolver shoots and lands on 1 of 4 outcomes:

If you choose the free spins, there is a Bullet Collector displayed outside the grid. Every winning cluster adds 1 bullet to the Bullet Collector. On the last free spin, the Bullet Collector activates with Smokey shooting all the collected bullets. The positions hit will reveal Coin, Diamond, Clover and Loot Bag Scatters. Before the Bullet Collector activates, landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters will give you 2 or 4 free spins, respectively.

If you choose to gamble, a revolver shoots and awards 1 of 8 outcomes:

• Outcome 1: awards a Bonus Upgrade to the Pistols of Dawn Bonus feature.

Pistols at Dawn Bonus

The Pistols at Dawn Bonus feature is triggered by landing 5 FS Scatter symbols in the base game. With 10 free spins awarded, there is a Bullet Collector that starts at 5 and triggers on each free spin (after Revolver Cyliners and Reload Scatters symbols have activated.

Once the Bullet Collector has activated, it will reset to the last collected value before activating: it then continues to collect wins on the next free spin. Finally, Silver Coin Scatters are the lowest Coin type that can appear.

The 6^th game in the ‘Le’ series, the Le Cowboy slot takes things to a whole new level. With Smokey the Raccoon front and centre, the cheeky Hacksaw icon stands to the side of the grid with his spurs, Stetson hat and pistol. The animations and quirkiness stand out, as in other games in the series.

With cascades for continuous wins, the focus is on winning clusters involving a Wanted Poster Wild: this sees the Revolver Cylinder Scatter appear for up to 6 symbols shot. The shot positions reveal a multitude of Scatters with Diamond Scatters worth up to 500 x bet, Clover symbols that multiplier Coins by up to 20x, Loot Bags that collect all values on the grid and Reloads that refill the cylinders for more shots.

Unlike other ‘Le’ slots, such as Le Pharaoh, Le King and Le Bandit, the Revolver Cylinder Scatters just blast various scatters onto the grid. I found the Gold Clover Scatter to be the most lucrative, especially when combined with Diamond Scatters. Reload Scatters will also lead to more ‘shots’ which, in turn, sparks a chain reaction of wins and payouts.

In 2 of the 3 free spins features, you can gamble for entry to the next free spins game or a cash prize. The 2 more lucrative features come with a Bullet Collector: this collects bullets on each free spin and adds that number back onto the grid after all cascades and Scatter symbols have taken place.

The best is the Pistols of Dawn Bonus feature where you can benefit from lots of Scatter symbols on each free spin. This is where Le Cowboy can really ‘pop off’ and give you huge payouts.

With 25,000 x bet max wins, the Le Cowboy slot is the highest-paying game in the ‘Le’ series (Le Zeus and Le King offers 20,000 x bet max win potential). I do like the fact you don’t need rainbows to collect the Coin Scatter values and you can shoot the same Coin Scatter several times for higher values.

All in all, Hacksaw Gaming has kept the mechanics from other ‘Le’ slots but given Le Cowboy a few twists and enhancements to make it stand out from its predecessors. I’m sure it will prove to be the most popular to date too.
