Now that I've written about the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, up next will be the key game features.

Theme – the USA
The Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States; it is also a nickname given to its national flag. Within the Land of the Free slot game, the flag can be seen proudly, displayed in various places. Mr Langford Senior is even wearing a star-spangled banner outfit - the Langfords are certainly a patriotic bunch. The background image shows a trailer home on the banks of a river with a 'no trespassing' sign that you cannot miss. The grid is cleverly made up to look like the back of a truck, which is parked up outside their rusting trailer.
On the grid, you'll see the entire Langford clan, who I presume is an elderly mother and father and three adult children, but then again, who knows? I must say that the symbols for this game did make me smile. I'll start with the highest value symbol first, which is: Mama, Eski Moe, Cletus, Trailer Swift (what a great name), and A$$man (no comment on the name)! This is followed by a condom wrapper, a bag of pills labelled 'not drugs', a bible, a gas can and finally, a large beverage called a mega burp.

Wild Symbol
In the base game, Wilds can land on any reel, and partial and fully stacked character symbols may land, too. Fully stacked character symbols will convert into stacked Wild symbols.
Free Spins
There are 3 x free spin bonus rounds to enjoy when playing Land of the Free. Firstly, there are the Submerged Spins, which are triggered by landing Scatter symbols. Here you receive 20 free spins, and all 4 rows are covered by water during the round. Secondly, there are the Tsunami Spins, which are triggered again by Scatters. For this round, you receive 12-20 free spins. All reels are active for this bonus and it starts with the bottom 2 rows submerged underneath water. When all 4 rows are covered by water, Tsunami Spins are upgraded to Submerged Spins.
And last not, not certainly not least, there is the Titan Spin round, seen in the screenshot above. When a submarine enters during any spin in the main game or Tsunami Spins/ Submerged Spins, the Titan Spin bonus will be triggered. One of three ‘Presidants’ may land in the submarine window and the multiplier of that ‘Presidant’ will be applied to the base bet. If no ‘Presidant’ lands, it is a no win.

Play Experience & First Impressions
You know this is a NLC game as soon as you start playing and see the pregnant, elderly lady - this title is bizarre in LOTS of ways. Right, now, onto my first impressions of the features of the game as let's face it: the features are the bread and butter of any game. So did this slot deliver? This is a resounding yes. The Conveyor Belt feature was a huge hit as it gave several layers to the game and ensured you were always entertained.
Visually, it looked excellent, too, seeing the various features roll across the belt at the bottom of the screen, on the screenshot above you can see the chainsaw. On each spin the images of features roll along the belt. All of these features alter the reels somehow and here is a breakdown of what each one does:
- Benzo Bear - A half-stacked Benzo Bear only exists in the base game and will convert 3-8 random symbols into Wild and/or Scatter symbols. A fully stacked Benzo Bear only exists in Submerged Spins and will convert all symbols below the water surface into Wilds.
- Mr. SPLIT & Chainsaw - Mr Split can only appear on reel 5 if it’s unlocked and will split all symbols except the Scatter from reels 1-5 on a row according to its size. It can appear half or fully stacked in the base game. During Tsunami Spins and Submerged Spins, Mr Split appears as a fully stacked symbol and will split all symbols that are below the water's surface. The chainsaw will be active if Mr Split is present on unlocked reel 5. The Chainsaw will add 1 more split to the already split positions on the same reel where it appears.
- Protein Powder Keg - this gets activated if there is a partially stacked symbol on the same reel. It converts the partially stacked symbol to a fully stacked symbol.
- Bottles - there is a crate with 1 or 2 bottles. 1 bottle will convert any random paying symbol on the same reel into a Wild. If there are 2 bottles, the first bottle will convert any random paying symbol on the same reel into Wild and the second bottle will split that Wild symbol into two parts.
- Rubber Ducks - When appears during Tsunami Spins and/or Submerged Spins, it awards +2 spins per Rubber Duck. Each Rubber Duck increases the level of water by one row during Tsunami Spins.
The Scatters for this game were also entertaining as they represented some of the most well-known conspiracy theories. In the base game, the Scatter symbols can land on any reel, and if you land 1 Scatter anywhere on reel 1-4, it unlocks reel 5. If you land 3-5 Scatters it triggers Tsunami Spins and will award 12/15/20 spins. The free spins rounds were completely compelling. Bonus rounds for NLC games tend to be high speed with plenty of action going on and Land of the Free was no exception.
