Like many Hacksaw slots, the Chaos Crew 3 slot is played with 5 reels, 5 rows and 19 fixed paylines. To land a winning combination, you need 3 or more identical symbols from left to right, across any of the 19 paylines and beginning from the leftmost reel (i.e. reel 1). The Chaos Crew 3 is the sequel to Chaos Crew 2 (September 2023) and Chaos Crew (September 2020). In this installment, Cranky Cat is twitchier and Sketchy Skull is sketchier with more attitude and madness. Hacksaw Gaming has introduced a new member, the glitchiest of Glitch Dogs.

Using the same graffiti/punk style, you’ll see Cranky Cat and Sketchy Skull on either side of the 5x5 grid: Cranky is holding a club of sorts with Sketchy sporting Glitch Dog and Cranky Cat puppets. Colourful and brash, Hacksaw hasn’t deviated at all from its predecessors. The sound is slightly different but quite the contrast compared to the graphics.

On the reels, you’ll come across various low-value symbols (that spell CHAOS). The higher-value symbols include hands, brains, ‘Stop’ signs, pizza slices and rockets: the rocket symbol pays the most as 5 across a payline will reward you with 10 times your total bet.

With a substituting Cranky Cat Wild, Chaos Crew 3 benefits from several special symbols. The 5 low-value CHAOS symbols can combine and transform into Glitch Dogs which then jump positions and change into Crazy Multipliers. Finally, there is a FS Scatter with 3, 4 or 5 triggering a respective bonus feature.

Chaos Crew 3 Mobile

Cranky Cat Multipliers

As mentioned above, the Cranky Cat Wild symbol substitutes for paying symbols when part of a winning combination. When it does, the value of the win is subject to a multiplier shown by the Cranky Cat.

Epic Drop

If all 5 low-value symbols that spell ‘CHAOS’ appear horizontally across any row, you will trigger an Epic Drop. You will be rewarded with 1 spin where a Reel Multiplier is added to the grid.

All 5 ‘CHAOS’ symbols transform into Glitch Dogs that jump to random new positions and then glitch into 1 of the 4 Crazy Multipliers, that are then added to the Reel Multiplier. The 4 Crazy Multiplier symbols are:

• Sketchy Skull: add a multiplier value between 1x and 100x to the Reel Multiplier above them
• Epic Sketchy Skull: adds their multiplier value (1x to 100x) to all Reel Multipliers once
• Cranky Cat: multiply Reel Multiplier above them between 2x and 20x
• Epic Cranky Cat: multiply all Reel Multipliers above them between 2x and 20x

CTRL + ALT + CHAOS

The CTRL + ALT + Chaos feature is triggered by landing 3 FS Scatters anywhere during a base game spin. With 3 refilling lives, the Reel Multiplier increases and the lives meter refills when a Crazy Multiplier or Glitch Dog lands. The other symbols that can land are ‘Dead’ symbols. When you run out of lives, all Reel Multipliers are added together to give your final bet multiplier win.

The Korrupted K9

The Korrupted K9 feature is activated when you land 4 FS Scatters simultaneously during a base game spin. With 3 refilling lives awarded, it works like the CTRL + ALT + Chaos feature (described above).

The difference is that you are guaranteed at least 4 Crazy Multipliers and 1 Glitch Dog will land at the beginning of the feature. If you land a Chaos Upgrade, it boosts the values of Crazy Multipliers and Glitch Dogs within a 3x3 square area.

An Epic Glitch

Landing 5 FS Scatters during the base game will trigger An Epic Glitch feature. With 3 refilling lives, it works like The Korrupted K9 feature. However, you are guaranteed a full grid of Crazy Mutipliers, 1 Chaos Upgrade and at least 1 Glitch Dog from the start.

The Chaos Crew 3 slot is the third game in the series. We’ve had to wait 2 years for this installment: has it been worth the wait? Graphically, Hacksaw hasn’t changed much but they’ve added a new character in Glitch Dog which I like. In terms of the mechanics, the Epic Drop feature returns but the Glitch Dogs jump around the reels to reveal values that apply to Reel Multipliers before converting back to Crazy Multipliers.

With 3 free spins features, Hacksaw has added a Chaos Upgrade symbol in The Korrupted K9 and An Epic Glitch features: it boosts the values of Crazy Multipliers and Glitch Dogs within a 3x3 area. If you’re lucky enough to trigger the An Epic Glitch feature, you will begin with a grid full of Crazy Multipliers, 1 Chaos Upgrade and a minimum of 1 Glitch Dog from the get-go.

That said, Hacksaw Gaming has kept true to its precedessors whilst increasing the max win potential up to 30,000 x your total bet: this makes it the highest-paying Hacksaw slot to date. Will there be any more Chaos Crew slots with new characters? Only time will tell.

In summary, it’s bigger and more chaotic that the previous releases but doesn’t do enough for me to stand out significantly. Relax Gaming managed to do this with Money Train 4 and Nolimit City upped the ante considerably with Tombstone Slaughter. They both feature in my list of the best slot game sequels.
