Bizarre Slot (Nolimit City)

The Bizarre slot has 5 reels, 4 rows and 20 paylines. 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols from left to right, beginning on the leftmost reel and across any of the 20 paylines will constitute a winning combination. The highest win per payline will be awarded.

With a 20p minimum bet per spin, the maximum stake is £5 a spin for UK players (or up to £2 if you’re under 25): outside the UK, there is a £100 max bet limit. To change your bet, use the ‘Coins’ icon to see all options. Players outside the UK can make use of Turbo Mode and Autoplay.

The Bizarre RTP rate is 96.06%, which is above the 96% average. 53.07% is for the base game and 42.99% for the bonus features. With a sci-fi theme, the Bizarre slot is based on Dr. Bizarre and his ability to crack code to create genetically modified animal genomes. Converting an old farm into a crazy laboratory, he aims to recruit a new assistant to help him with his experiments.

As mentioned, the setting is Dr. Bizarre’s farm at night-time. With a green tinge in the sky, you’ll see a converted barn in the backdrop which serves as the experimental laboratory. You’ll also see plenty of pipework leading to the lab. The soundtrack is creepy, suspenseful and has a horror feel.  

On the reels, you’ll come across low-value A, K, Q, J and 10 royals which have been stitched together. The higher-value symbols include genetically modified animals including elephant rats, banana ducks, squirrel goats, bucket cows and centipede rabbits: the centipede rabbit is the best paying symbol awarding 2, 4 or 44 x your total bet for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

Bizarre also comes with a Potion Wild symbol that substitutes for all paying symbols. Paying like the centipede rabbit (up 44 x bet), you’ll also come across Dr. Bizarre xSplit symbols, Brain Scatters and Super Brain Scatters. Bizarre, like all other Nolimit City slot games, was produced using HTML5 technology. Available to play on mobile, desktop and tablet devices, it can enjoyed on iOS and Android smartphones (in Portrait Mode). As I suggest for all NLC games, a laptop or PC is recommended for the full experience.

The Bizarre slot focuses on Dr. Bizarre xSplit symbols which split symbols on the same row. In the Chimera Spins (and Super version), xSplit symbols will split Potion Wilds to double the multiplier values. For non-UK players, there’s a Coinage feature where you collect coins containing bet multipliers: xSplit symbols double their values and Piggy Bank Collectors collect all visible values for more wins.

xSplit

Look out for the Dr. Bizarre xSplit symbol landing on reels 1 and 5 in the base game: it can land either as a single symbol or as a 4-high symbol (either partially or fully visible).

When the Dr. Bizarre xSplit lands, it splits all symbols on the same row and doubles their size (except for itself). After splitting, the Dr. Bizarre xSplit acts as a wild symbol.

Chimera Spins

When 3 Brain Scatter symbols land anywhere during a base game spin, you’ll trigger the Chimera Spins feature, with 3 free spins. A Brain Scatter landing on reel 3 (the middle reel) will transform into a Potion Wild and remain sticky throughout the feature.

Before the free spins commence, the 3 middle reels spin individually: only Potion Wilds, extra spin symbols or poo (empty) symbols will land. When Potion Wilds or extra spin symbols appear, they stay in position and a respin is awarded. The respins continue until no new extra spin or Potion Wild symbols land.

If a Potion Wild lands, it remains sticky throughout the free spins. If a number symbol lands, its value is added to the number of Chimera Spins. If a Potion Wild is split by a Dr. Bizarre xSplit symbol, the multiplier doubles and that is also sticky. More xSplit symbols will continue to double the multiplier if landing on the same row as the Potion Wild.

Super Chimera Spins

The Super Chimera Spins feature is triggered by landing 2 Brain Scatter symbols plus 1 Super Brain Scatter during a base game spin. In addition to the extras in the Chimera Spins feature, all Brain Scatters transform into Potion Wilds and remain sticky for the duration of the feature.

Extra Spin

When the Chimera Spins or Super Chimera Spins features end, you might get the opportunity to buy an extra spin: it will keep the Potion Wilds with its multiplier value of the previous spin. The cost of the extra spin is calculated based on the Potion Wild multipliers, only is less than or equal to the win from the feature.

Coinage

Not available in the UK, the Coinage feature can be triggered for 200 x your total bet. Only coins with multiplier values and special symbols can land. If any positions are empty after a spin, a respin is triggered, filling the empty positions with new symbols. The RTP rate is 95.94%.

When the feature ends, the sum of all multiplier values are added and applied to your total bet. Below, you’ll find details on all the symbols that can land during the Coinage feature:

• Coins: Bronze, Silver, Gold or Diamond coins are worth between 1 and 1,000 x your total bet.
• xSplit: Splits all coins and used Piggy Bank Collectors on its row and doubles their values. Once triggered, the xSplit symbol is removed.
• Piggy Bank Collector: Collects the total value of all visible coins and removes them from the grid. The used Piggy Bank Collector remains in position. If another Piggy Bank Collector lands later, it also collects the value of the previously used Piggy Bank Collector.
• Brain Scatter: When 3 Brain Scatters are collected, it triggers the Chimera Spins feature after the Coinage feature ends. If 1 of the 3 is a Super Brain Scatter, you’ll trigger the Super Chimera Spins feature instead.

Nolimit Booster

As with other Nolimit games, there are 2 Nolimit Booster options in the Bizarre slot:

• xBoost: Costing 2 x bet, you are guaranteed a Brain Scatter on reel 2. This makes it 3 times more likely to trigger the Chimera Spins or Super Chimera Spins feature. The RTP is 96.03%.

Bizarre is sci-fi experiment which focuses on xSplit symbols: in the free spins features, they split Potion Wilds and double their multiplier values. This can result in 20,000 x bet max wins.

For starters, the Bizarre slot is visually superb. Based on a mad scientist that genetically modifies animals in his barnyard laboratory, the theme, graphics and soundtrack are what you’d expect from a Nolimit City production.

In terms of the gameplay, the only xMechanic on offer is the xSplit. Landing on reels 1 and 5 in the base game, it can appear 4-high, splitting symbols on the same row and doubling their size. The xSplit mechanic appears in plenty of Nolimit City games such as Disturbed and Mental 2.

Things heat up in the Chimera Spins feature, where you play a mini-game to win sticky Potion Wilds and add to your free spins tally. Potion Wilds remain on the reels during the free spins but the key is the Dr. Bizarre xSplit symbol as this doubles the multiplier every time it lands on the same row. In the Super Chimera Spins, all triggering scatters become sticky Potion Wilds.

Then you have the Coinage feature, which isn’t available in the UK. With coins worth up to 1,000 x your total bet, the key again is the xSplit Coin which splits all coins on its row and doubles their values. Look out for Piggy Bank Collectors as these collect all visible coins and allows for more to drop in. If you’re lucky, you can also collect Brain and Super Brain Scatters to play the Chimera or Super Chimera Spins.

With 20,000 x bet max wins, the Bizarre slot is a simple game by Nolimit City standards. Focusing entirely on xSplit symbols, I found doubling the Potion Wild multipliers in the free spins features the key to winning big.

Including xWays symbols would have created higher winning potential and taken this game to a whole new level. The other element I would have included is enhanced the Super Chimera Spins feature further with the sticky Potion Wild multipliers starting at 4x or higher. All in all, another good game from Nolimit City but not one of their finest.
