With a quirky soundtrack, you’ll hear the alien orphans screech from sudden volts of electricity which are delivered straight to the collars that imprison them. Whilst sounding bleak, it shows how creative the team at Shady Lady are, and I’m all for it.

On the 5x5 grid, you’ll see 6 different alien creatures which pay up to 8 times your total bet for 8+ using the Meter Pay mechanic. With Wild symbols that substitute for the above symbols, there are airlocks, face huggers and Conductor Scatters (more on these below). What is for certain is that Orphan Organ is unique and odd.

Meter Pay

Next to the 5x5 grid are 6 meters, 1 for each orphan: each symbol type has its own meter. When symbols land, they are collected into their respective meters. Once a meter has 8 or more symbols, the payout in the Paytable is awarded.

The winning symbols are then removed from the grid: this allows for new symbols to cascade in. If more than 8 symbols are collected, the extra symbols will remain in the meter for the next cascade. Furthermore, the meter’s multiplier increases by 1 (or higher, depending on its level). Meters can be linked to each other to create musical chaos and higher winning potential.

Airlocks

When an Airlock activator symbol (the red eye/cross) lands, this will open the 5 airlocks on the grid. Each award 1 of the following 4 Airlock features:

• Meter Level Upgrade: Multiplies a random meter’s level between 2-10.

With Shady Lady creating unique games, they’ve set themselves quite the precedent. If you think previous releases such as Devil’s Finger or Office Party were odd, I’m not sure what you’re going to make of the Orphan Organ slot game. For starters, the aim is to make the orphans sing, which is quite demented (but oddly acceptable). 

Introducing a new Meter Pay mechanic, you need to collect 8+ matching symbols in its respective meter for a payout. With the meter multiplier increasing, the key is to land Airlock activator symbols, which award multiplier upgrades, meter level upgrades, wilds and Harmony Facehuggers that link meters together.

In the Live in Concert Bonus free spins, the difference is that all meter multipliers, meter levels and linked symbols are persistent for much higher win potential, theoretically.

One thing is for certain: you need to play Orphan Organ in demo mode to get used to the concept. Guaranteeing a unique experience, the sounds are what make this game stand out. It gets weirder and weirder, which I love being honest.

With 20,000 x bet max win potential, Orphan Organ is another unique proposition from Shady Lady that players will warm to or will make them run a mile. My verdict: let the orphans make sweet music!
