I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • The Queens Speech is as short as 1/2 with some bookmakers to top the charts
  • Call the Midwife has been heavily backed into 4/5 with one betting site
  • The race is between these two as Blankety Blank is a poor third in the betting at 7/2

The Queen is expected to have the most watched TV show on Christmas Day this year, with bookies making her speech on the BBC specifically, evens favourite to be most watched.

Last Christmas, The Queen had the highest Ratings altogether with 8.14m viewers and on the BBC alone with 6.4m viewers.

Call The Midwife was second highest in terms of viewership last year with 5.4m viewers and is second favourite in this year's market with betting sites.

Most Christmas Day Viewers  Odds Implied Probability
The Queen (BBC) 1/2 66.67%
Call The Midwife 4/5 55.56%
Blankety Blank Christmas Special 7/2 22.2%
Michael McIntyre's Christmas Wheel 7/1 12.5%
Strictly Come Dancing 10/1 9.1%
The Larkins Christmas Special 12/1 7.7%
The Abominable Snow Baby 16/1 5.9%
Coronation Street 20/1 4.8%

**Odds probability include bookmakers overround edge - meaning percentages will add up to over 100%, this being the bookies edge - How bookmakers use odds

Blankety Blank and Michael McIntyre's Christmas Wheel are both also BBC shows that feature in the betting odds.

Game shows like those two may be the perfect type of show to get the family around the television.

The Queen's speech was the most watched show on Christmas Day last year and is the favourite to do the same again in a year which has again had struggles through the coronavirus pandemic.

Strictly Come Dancing is one of the most-watched shows on UK TV, with millions turning in every Saturday night.

The Christmas special of the show is a regular occurrence on Christmas Day, with it airing since 2004.

Last year's Strictly special featured various clips of past shows due to the coronavirus pandemic not allowing performers to dance together.

Fast forward to 2021 and the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special features stars such as Anne Marie and Adrian Chiles.
