Elon Musk's SpaceX is favourite to put human beings on Mars first

Bookies are now offering odds on the first organisation that puts human beings on Mars first and there's a clear favourite at the top of the market.

Elon Musk's SpaceX are 1/4 favourites to be the first to put humans on Mars and they've listed numerous reasons why they've picked Mars to try and head to.

The day length is nearly the same as Earth with 24hrs and 37 mins in a full day on Mars and the 140 million miles distance away makes it one of the closest habitable neighbours to us.

SpaceX themselves have gone into full detail around their intentions to land on Mars with the journey there taking 6 months.

Jeff Bezos Blue Origin second favourite in the betting market

Jeff Bezos and his Blue Origin company are second favourites in the betting to land humans on Mars first in what is deemed the battle of the billionaires.

NASA awarded Blue Origin a task order to provide launch service for the agency’s Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers mission back in May.

This mission is more of a study mission for Mars rather than landing humans on there with their intentions not around landing humans currently.

NASA massive outsiders at 25/1

NASA are the outsiders in the betting market to land humans on Mars but that is mainly due to the company likely not putting a mission on independently.

If NASA were to land on Mars it's expected that it will be as a joint adventure with SpaceX or Blue Origin.

Nasa's plans are expected to see manned missions to Mars from the year 2033 onwards with a new Space Station in the Moon's orbit expected at some point.
