  • George Clarke remains 1/1 favourite to win Strictly, despite finishing bottom of the judges' leaderboard
  • Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink eliminated after losing the dance-off to Amber Davies
  • Lewis Cope and Alex Kingston now emerge as strongest challengers in the market

This weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing episode delivered another twist as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink became the latest celebrity to exit the show despite a much-improved dance performance.

After losing the dance-off to West End star Amber Davies, the former footballer bowed out, leaving just ten celebrities in the race for the 2025 Glitterball Trophy.

But it’s YouTuber George Clarke who continues to defy expectations.

Despite finishing bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night, Clarke's massive public support kept him out of the bottom two and bookmakers are keeping him the evens favourite to lift the trophy.

bet365's latest market gives Clarke a 50% implied probability of being champion this year.

George Clarke's Popularity Carrying Him Through

It’s becoming clear that Strictly 2025 isn’t just about the judges’ scores.

George Clarke’s connection with the audience has carried him through tough weeks and now has him installed as even-money favourite despite no standout performances technically.

Fan-voted shows like Strictly often see a divide between dance quality and public sentiment and this year looks no different.

Clarke’s warm personality and underdog journey are proving a winning formula.

Who Could Still Upset George?

Lewis Cope at 4/1 and Alex Kingston at 5/1 represent the most viable alternatives.

Cope has been quietly consistent, while Kingston's expressive routines have drawn increasing praise from the judges.

Vicky Pattison, now at 7/1, remains an interesting wildcard and a strong performance next weekend could easily shorten her odds significantly.

What the expert says...
George Clarke is showing that being bottom of the leaderboard doesn’t matter when you’ve got public backing. Unless one of the challengers delivers a breakout moment, the fan vote might carry him all the way.
