Ben Stokes still the favourite at 5/1 to win the 2023 Sports Personality of the Year award

England Test Captain Ben Stokes is the 5/1 favourite with bookies to win the 2023 Sports Personality of the Year award later this year.

Stokes came runner up to England Womens forward Beth Mead in last year's SPOTY event and has a big chance of going one better in 2023.

Paddy Power now have Stokes at 5/1 in the betting market with his odds coming down slightly from the 11/2 that he was at earlier in February.

2023 Sports Personality of the Year Winner Odds Probability
Ben Stokes 5/1 16.7%
Lewis Hamilton 7/1 12.5%
Joe Root 15/2 11.8%
George Russell 9/1 10.0%
Tyson Fury 10/1 9.1%

Joe Root is the third favourite in the betting market and it could well be a cricketer who wins the award this year with a busy year for the sport on the way.

England's cricket team have a home Ashes series in the Summer as well as defending their ICC World Cup Trophy in India towards the end of the year.

Ben Stokes has been backed in slightly to 5/1 from 11/2 following an entertaining start to the cricket year for the test team over in New Zealand!

Lewis Hamilton is second favourite to win his third SPOTY award ahead of the F1 season starting

This year's Formula 1 season gets underway this weekend in Bahrain and British driver Lewis Hamilton is second favourite in the SPOTY market.

Hamilton has won the award twice already throughout his career and will be hoping to make it a hat-trick with a big year.

Last season was a disaster for Mercedes and Hamilton who will be hoping for a massive difference this season with a better car for the team.
