Anderson and DiCaprio Drive Favourite Status

The 2026 Oscars race for Best Picture has been shaken up this week with the release of Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, One Battle After Another.

Already sitting at a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score, the action thriller has received widespread critical acclaim and UK Betting Sites have installed it as the EVS favourite to scoop Best Picture at next year’s Academy Awards.

The film features Leonardo DiCaprio, who is expected to also be a leading contender for Best Actor, adding further momentum to its award season push.

William Hill's latest market gives an implied probability of 50% that One Battle After Another wins Best Picture at the 2026 Academy Awards.

Hamnet and Other Contenders

Hamnet, adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning novel and produced by Sam Mendes, is considered the most serious challenger at 9/4.

With its Shakespearean roots and high-calibre cast, it is tipped for strong support among Academy voters.

Further back in the betting is Sinners at 9/1, while James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash sits at 12/1, hoping to replicate the visual spectacle of its predecessors.

Rounding out the market is Martin Scorsese’s Marty Supreme at 14/1, a film that could yet grow in strength once released.

Betting Insight

The Oscars Best Picture market is always highly competitive, but the early signs suggest One Battle After Another could dominate the season.

With Anderson at the helm and DiCaprio delivering another powerhouse performance, the Even money price highlights bookmakers’ confidence in its chances.

What the expert says...
Early momentum is everything in the Oscars race, and One Battle After Another has it in spades. Hamnet could build late support, but evens looks justified given the critical response so far.
