Mark Bonner is the early bookies favourite to take over at Sutton

Bookmakers are now offering odds on who will be the next Sutton United manager after the sacking of Matt Gray on Tuesday following a poor run of form.

Next Sutton United managerOddsProbability
Mark Bonner4/120.0%
Steve Cotterill5/116.7%
Keith Curle6/114.3%
Steve Morison8/111.1%
Luke Garrard8/111.1%

Mark Bonner is the early favourite at 4/1 to take over at Sutton after he was sacked as manager of Cambridge United back in November.

Bonner has been in the betting markets for a number of jobs in the past few weeks and Sutton are the latest with BetVictor suggesting a 20% chance he takes over at Gander Green Lane.

Steve Cotterill is second favourite in the market and is another manager who features regularly in these lower league managerial betting lists.

Bottom of the table, Sutton United need an instant uplift after the 8-0 defeat by Stockport. Many of the candidates in the betting bring with them lots of experience, especially Steve Cotterill and Keith Curle.

Mark Gray sacked following Sutton's 8-0 thumping at the hands of Stockport on Saturday

Sutton sit bottom of League Two and are now without a manager after deciding to sack Matt Gray on Tuesday after 4 years in charge of the club.

Gray has been arguably their best ever manager by taking them to the Football League for the first time in their history back in 2021.

The last two seasons has seen Sutton miss out on the play-offs by just a point before a 14th place last campaign and now are rock bottom of the league.

Sutton's statement from the Board of Directors said, "This season's results have been disappointing and our league position, as we approach the half way mark of the season, led us to decide with great reluctance that a change is necessary".

Sutton are odds-on to be relegated this season

Sutton4/660.0%
Forest Green11/1047.6%
Tranmere2/133.3%
Colchester5/228.6%
Salford6/114.3%

Sutton sit at the top of one table, but it's not the one that they would hope with bookies now putting them favourites to be relegated from League Two.

Their current odds are 4/6 to go down which doesn't make them heavily odds-on but it suggests a 60% chance of them being relegated.

Forest Green and Tranmere are just behind them in the betting odds with bookies unable to give clear favourites in the market so far this season.
