Sheffield Wednesday Manager Market Opens as Danny Rohl Departs

Danny Rohl’s tenure at Sheffield Wednesday has come to an abrupt end and attention has now turned to who will replace him in the dugout.

Bookmakers have moved fast to price up the next Sheffield Wednesday manager, with Henrik Pedersen emerging as the clear early frontrunner at 4/6.

The Danish coach has been assistant manager of the Owls having joined back in October 2023 alongside Rohl and now could get the manager's job.

Rohl leaves after an eventful spell at Hillsborough, having guided the Owls to Championship survival last season but with ownership tensions and internal reshuffling ongoing, a fresh direction now looks likely.

What the expert says...
Pedersen’s odds have tightened quickly and that often suggests movement behind the scenes. He fits the mould for the owners having already been in the Wednesday system and it would be an easy appointment to make.

Williams and Carrick in the Frame

Second in the market is Luke Williams at 6/1, who has previously impressed as a manager and is a free agent currently.

Michael Carrick, Gary O’Neil, and Steve Cooper are all tied at 8/1 and may represent ambitious approaches if Wednesday seek a big Championship name.

All three managers are currently unattached and reportedly open to new roles.
