Andy Crosby now the 1/3 favourite to get the Port Vale job permanently

Port Vale's interim manager Andy Crosby is now the 1/3 favourite with UK betting sites to be the next Port Vale manager with his side's 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers ending an eight-game run without a win for the side.

That victory secured the club's survival in League One for another season which will be a relief for fans with two tricky final games away at Charlton and at home to league leaders Plymouth.

BetVictor now say that there's a 75% chance that Crosby's interim reign as manager will be made permanent and he is clear at the top of the betting market.

Next Port Vale Manager Odds Probability
Andy Crosby 1/3 75.0%
Danny Cowley 8/1 11.1%
Nigel Adkins 10/1 9.1%

Danny Cowley was 5/2 favourite to be the next manager but has drifted to 8/1

Former Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley is seemingly linked with the majority of Football League jobs that come up currently and it's been no different with the vacant Port Vale job.

Cowley was the early favourite at 5/2 last week to take over as Port Vale manager but has since drifted out in the betting market to 8/1.

These latest odds suggest that there's just an 11% chance that Cowley is the next manager of the Valiants with the betting market having Crosby as clear favourite.

Portsmouth are 12/1 to win League One next season

Bookmakers are also giving odds on who will win League One next season but Port Vale do not feature in the top 10 in the betting market with Portsmouth the current favourites.

Portsmouth are 12/1 to win League One with Charlton just behind them in the betting market at 18/1 but realistically it'll be one of the relegated Championship sides who will be up towards the top of the betting.

The current League One play-off contenders are also missing from the betting odds with the potential chance that one of those will go up this season.

League One Winner 23/24 Odds Probability
Portsmouth 12/1 7.7%
Charlton 18/1 5.3%
Wycombe 20/1 4.8%
Bristol Rovers 25/1 3.8%
