  • David Tennant rumours springboard the Scot to the favourites position in the betting with bookmakers
  • Olly Alexander drops in betting as co Star Lydia West goes second favourite in the betting
  • Fans poll Winner Michael Sheen still in the betting
  • Some bookmakers taking no chances with Tennants popularity and making him a short price even though it seems unlikely

Never has an actor returned to the role of Dr Who but rumours are rife that David Tennant might be returning to replace Jodie Whittaker in the famous TV series.

Betting sites have had no choice to react by making David Tenannt the odds on favourite at just 6/5 odd representing a 45% probability of being chosen and accepting.

Next Dr Who Betting Odds

Actor Odds Probability
David Tennant 6/5 45.45%
Lydia West 7/2 22.22%
Omari Douglas 5/1 16.67%
Olly Alexander 11/2 15.38%
Michael Sheen 6/1 14.29%
Michaela Coel 10/1 9.09%

Things have really been shaken up with Next Dr Who betting since Olly Alexander was being heavily tipped take it on, after the success of Years and Years, although Co-Star Lydia West is now favoured of the pair and sits as second favourite behind the former Scottish Who.

Michael Sheen too has been a favourite not only with bookmakers for the role, but also topped a TV Times poll as to who viewers would like to see as the Next Dr

David Tennant played the tenth Doctor in the long running BBC series between 2005 and 2010 and would be the first actor to come back as the Doctor; full-time that is, we know Tom baker did a cameo reappearance for an anniversary show.

The return of one of the best Dr's ever, still remains just a rumour however, that spilled from social media, made a bit of TV coverage and has been written about, but some bookmakers have taken no chances given how popular Tennant was and how Who fans may pile in with bets 'just in case'

My feeling is that this could only be a step backwards in a career that has really taken off since leaving the role for David Tennant/
