Barcelona 'B' manager Rafa Marquez is the 3/1 favourite to takeover the first team

Betting is now available on the next Barcelona manager with bookies offering odds on who will replace the departing Xavi for the 2024/25 season.

Barcelona 'B' manager Rafa Marquez is the early favourite to take over from Xavi next with bookmakers currently putting him at 3/1 at the top of the market.

Marquez made 163 appearances for Barcelona as a player and has been manager of the Barca 'B' team since July 2022.

The former defender told reporters "you can't say no to an opportunity like this," when asked about his chances of taking over as the Barca manager next.

Bet365's current betting market makes Marquez the 3/1 favourite ahead of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Michel had been linked with a move from Girona

Girona have been the surprise package of La Liga so far this season with the Spanish minnows currently sat in top spot in the table ahead of Real Madrid.

The Catalan team were 1000/1 to win La Liga at the start of the season and now are as short as 5/1 behind Real Madrid to win the league.

Girona's success has seen their manager Michel linked with a move to Barcelona but he's currently out to 9/1 to get the job next.

What the expert says...

Two European managers in the next Barcelona manager betting Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen and Michel at Girona are managing clubs who top the table in their countries, we suspect that neither would want to lose their managers

Xavi announced he will leave the managerial role at the end of the season

Current Barcelona manager Xavi announced that he will step down at the end of the season after Saturday's 5-3 home loss to Villarreal.

That loss saw Barca slip to 10 points behind Real Madrid in the La Liga table and now will be looking for a new manager for next season.

Xavi took charge of Barcelona back in November 2021 and won the La Liga title in his first full season in charge but now says he's given everything he has.
