James McAtee Odds-On To Join Nottingham Forest This Summer

Nottingham Forest are now 8/13 favourites to sign Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, with reports suggesting their opening £25m bid was rejected, but further negotiations are expected in the coming days.

The 22-year-old spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Sheffield United and impressed despite the club’s relegation, sparking interest from multiple Premier League sides.

He stayed at City last season but played a bit-part role with substitute appearances throughout the campaign and now he's looking for first team football.

With Forest looking to strengthen their midfield, it’s expected they’ll return with a second offer as they push to land the English star permanently.

McAtee’s chances of first-team action under Pep Guardiola remain slim and betting sites now heavily favour a move away from the Etihad before the transfer window closes.

What the expert says...
Forest clearly see McAtee as a long-term fit in their midfield and with Manchester City open to selling, the odds now reflect how close this deal is to happening. We’ve seen significant shortening in the market over the past 48 hours, and unless another club jumps in quickly, Forest look to have the edge.

City Stay is Second Favourite in Market

According to the latest betting odds from bet365, McAtee now has a 61.9% chance of joining Nottingham Forest this summer and playing a big part in their Europa League campaign.

Second favourite in the market though is the player staying at Manchester City, but it would make sense for all parties for the player to finally leave the Etihad Stadium.

The Salford Silva, as he is affectionately dubbed by City fans, has been at the club since the age of 8.
