By 2028, that figure is forecast to reach £33 billion. The BGC has responded with a five-point plan, calling on government to block illegal sites, cut off their payment processing, shut down their advertising, increase penalties for unlicensed operators, and hold enabling companies to account.
For players, the risks are direct and serious. Unlicensed operators pay no UK tax, contribute nothing to the harm prevention infrastructure that the regulated sector funds, and have no legal obligation to pay out winnings.

OLBG's Casino Content Manager David Coleman believes the BGC's warning is one players should take seriously.
